I heard two different interviews on the radio last week with Kanter and he sings the praises of Gulen.

This is the guy Kanter supports.

Gulen’s followers run publicly-funded science and math-focus charter schools in the United States. By our count, they’ve opened 136 charter schools in 28 states, operating on more than $2.1 billion taxpayer dollars since 2010.

But former teachers at those schools have told CBS News there is a scheme by Gulen’s followers in the U.S. to take advantage of the American charter school system and fund Gulen’s movement.

Ersin Konkur was once a follower of Gulen. He worked as a math teacher at schools founded by Gulen supporters in New York and Texas. But he said school officials made a special demand of the Turkish teachers who worked there: a kick-back from their taxpayer-funded salary.

“They’d force you to give some of that money back to them?” CBS News correspondent Margaret Brennan asked.

“Yes,” Konkur responded.

“Were you writing checks?”

“They were asking cash. But in my last two years, I paid some of them in check,” Konkur said, adding that he’s paid “maybe a lot more than $20,000” in total to the movement.

That sounds like the dumbest conspiracy ever.

"How will we get money for our cause?"

"I know, let's start a chain of charter schools and make the teachers contribute part of their salary! Everyone knows teachers have lots of disposable income! And schools are very simple to operate, no intrusive oversight from government or parents."

"You are a genius, my friend"

Bring in a bunch of teachers from Turkey who can barely speak english, shake them down for 40% of their salary or they're fired and have to go back to Turkey. The 60% of the salary they get to keep is still more than what they would earn in Turkey. And the best part of it is that it's all paid for by the US government.

Doesn't sound dumb to me.

And it didn't sound dumb to 60 Minutes.

I'm not saying there isn't a shakedown of immigrant teachers. I'm saying there is a lot more to the school story than just that - the schools weren't formed specifically for that scam.

Turkey accusing Enes Kanter of being part of terror group

ANKARA, Turkey -- Turkish prosecutors are seeking an international arrest warrant for New York Knicks center Enes Kanter, accusing him of membership in a terror organization.

Sabah newspaper says the Istanbul chief prosecutor's office had also prepared an extradition request for the NBA player.

The newspaper says prosecutors are seeking an Interpol "Red Notice" citing Kanter's ties to Fethullah Gulen, who is blamed for a failed coup in 2016, and accusing him of providing financial support to his group. Officials at the prosecutor's office could not be reached for comment.

Kanter reacted to the report in a tweet Wednesday.

Earlier this month, Kanter refused to travel to London for a regular-season NBA game, saying he feared he could be assassinated for his opposition to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Kanter's Turkish passport was revoked in 2017.

Do you have any true liberal friends?

Go start to have more conversations with them.

If you did, maybe you wouldn't assume you know what liberals want or believe in.

Why the FUCK is Turkey our ally???

Serious answer: in the early cold war we needed forward bases for our then short ranged missles. Around the same time as the Cuban missle crisis they became obsolete - but Turkey was already entrenched as a NATO member.

Now, love of oil has replaced fear of the Soviets.

AGREE to your view. >> > and more from me....IN THE PAST, THE U.S. ALSO GAVE PAKISTAN THE BOMB BECAUSE WE GAVE IT TO INDIA (or vice versa). I sense I am mystified but not surprised when I hear of the shit that we/ (this country) created. It's as big a deal as a whore house in Reno.
I went through JFK and matured when LBJ ran the country into the ground . Only a few people can imagine the intensity of 1968. The Nixon era was intense. Now <I can see we are truly fucked.>

I do have liberal friends and I myself am a moderate with many liberal points of view as they have. The one thing my liberal friends and I pretty much agree with is not a totally democratic socialized government that is huge, expensive and controls the mass. I make reference to far left which I should have been more clear as radical. Just like there are radical conservatives that take things to extreme as well.
Most my liberal friends are blue collar senior citizens that don't endorse some of the new wave of dem's/liberals.
I have kids and grandkids that are both Dems & repub's and they have some of the younger points off views about each and the basic tenants are somewhat different than 50 plus years back and forward some.
Buts thats ok with me I want everyone to have their own say and political beliefs.
I grew up totally against segregation of race or religion and was a big believer in free speech as was MLK and others back then. Now from my view point the young radicals are wanting more segregation and less free speech. Very different but I do try and understand that people want their own space and some of the sensitivities towards being politically correct and what people have to say.
I grew up with a young generation that many were anti establishment/government and very pro free speech with don't tell me what I can and cant say. How things have changed, from my point of view.

Erdogan sucks and I hope he is removed from office so Turkey can rise up again and become Eagle or some cool Bird!
