He frustrates the hell out of me. I would rather have Price, Karl, Barton, Wes or Batum play bu pg ahead of Nolan. I'm thinking even Meyers would make a better pg.

In 17 minutes tonight he was 0 for 6 from the field. He had ZERO assists and three turnovers.

Nolan Smith is a garbage. What a waste of a 1st round pick!

I was trying to stay positive about Nolan, but his play has not been encouraging.

We can start making the case this blazer bench could be one of the worst in nba history or at least in franchise history. There's d league teams that have better benches!

Carlito, you do realize that the Blazers bench just finished playing a fourth quarter against golden state starters and played them pretty well.

I know you are just trying to be a douche troll, but bad timing.

2 rebounds in 27 minutes at the PF position! Get rid of him! Aldridge sucks!

I agree his shooting is horrible. I think Coby Karl should be signed and Nolan Smith dropped.
Karl played out of position at point guard during Wednesday's preseason win over Denver and performed admirably, recording 11 points (3-4 FG, 2-2 3Pt, 3-4 FT), five assists, two rebounds, and two steals in 21 minutes

Nolan Smith was
2-4 FG made, 0-2 3pter, 2-2 FT, 2 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 turnovers against Sacramento in 19 minutes on Oct 15th.

Despite the fact i made a critical comment in the game thread; i am not ready to give up on him. He at least went to the basket and tried to do some things (that didn't succeed). He did have a good summer league game before his injury. Maybe he just needs some time in D-league.

Is the premise of this thread really that an end-of-bench player is getting playing time in the PREseason? What is the PREseason here for then?

Although, I agree as a diehard NCAAB'er, that as talented as Nolan Smith is, there's really not a real place for him in the NBA.

Imagine how Coby Karl feels, knowing that he's going to get cut AGAIN but Nolan has a guaranteed contract.

I don't cuss much here, but you know what?

They're BOTH sons of NBA players.

It was funny to watch Jarrett Jack last night - he was Nolan back in the day. Boy, we thought we had it bad then...

I still think Nolan will carve out a career. Just probably not in the NBA. He probably needs to be far away from anybody who knows who Kenneth Faried is.

I have said this before, and believe it more than ever now. Nolan is not a PG. Nolan is a capable passer, and would do well as a back up 2.

I don't think he would be even a decent backup 2, first because of his lousy shot and secondly because of his size, IMO he is not an NBA caliber player. His jump shot looks like an NBA version of a tennis "topspin forehand"

Indeed.

The man responsible.

How does he still have a job with this organization? I totally bashed that trade at the time. We gave up Andre Miller for Raymond Fatty Felton, and passed on Kenneth Faried to take Nolan Smith. Both our starting five and our bench got worse. It hurt the team both short term and long term, and made a division rival better in the process.

Oh well, on the bright side, it guaranteed us at least two years of lottery picks - even though that wasn't the goal at the time.

BNM

I was okay with Nolan trying out as a combo guard, but they've been playing him as a point guard again. He's not a point guard. Period. The guy doesn't make good decisions and he's not a play maker. That was the whole point of signing Ronnie Price. If Price is going to be out for a while, we need to find another point guard.

"His name is [Coby Karl]!"

Barton is beast, I would let him do his thing at the point over Nolan. He did some things that really impressed me. Dude can hoop.

I caught the second half of last nights game, Nolan just couldn't buy a bucket. Plus his decisions are suspect.
