The statement by Merkel in the article posted today caught my attention.

This is not a German thing, it is all too common in the US also.
It points to how adroit the politician of today have become in finding use in every difference there exist in the normal human population, in their attempts to divide us into manageable groups. They use diversity in the same way, to identify and manage, often pitting one group against another so they, can come to the rescue of the group they encourage to see as aggrieved.
This is not helping anyone. They do not well serve us as a people as a whole, with these shallow lame tactics.
We shall hear for the next few week the use of these group identifier in the discussions over the associate
justice Trump will appoint to the court. The old White man vs the Wise Latina! Jesus! How shallow can it get?
Our society must come to the point where group identifiers are not need, or are indeed recognized as irrelevant in selecting the servants of our society.
This will take leadership to bring the people to this point and we are being lead in the other direction almost none stop.
