The Mavericks selected Texas small forward Jordan Hamilton at No. 26, then announced that he was taken for another team (sources say it's Portland). The 6-foot-7, 220-pound Hamilton averaged 18.6 points and 7.7 rebounds over two seasons with the Longhorns.

With the 57th pick, the Mavs took forward Targuy Ngombo of Qatar. The trade calls for the Mavericks to send Ngombo to the Blazers for the draft rights to Finnish guard Petteri Koponen, who was the last player selected in the first round of the 2007 draft. He has played the past three seasons for Italian powerhouse Virtus Bologna, averaging 12.1 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game after recovering from a foot injury this season.
