If Robertson turns down the 15M I'd let him walk. Sandoval in all likelihood will stay with the Giants. Headley I agree will have other offers but I think if the Yankees offer somewhere around 3 years @ 36M I think he'd stay. But I am surprised that Freeze wasn't even mentioned.

I saw a list that listed Freece among the 15 most over paid in the league...

The biggest one may come in the bullpen, where closer David Robertson is likely to reject his $15.3 million qualifying offer. Rumors are that no less than six teams are interested in the right-hander, so it would be personally wise for him to play the field. That means if the Yanks want to keep the 29-year-old, they’ll have to shell out major bucks — think in the $18 million range — for multiple years. And that’s providing the Red Sox, who tend to spend as freely as the Yanks at times, don’t make a huge play for him to create a powerful one-two punch with their 40-year-old closer Koji Uehara.

...lol.

...Freese's 15 minutes of fame has already come and gone.

no doubt, but the list was basically comparing salary to WAR... stupid comparison IMO, but the list was basically half Yankees and former Yankees (i.e. Nick Swisher)

Get the kids up here! Gaadammit! Betances as the closer, Lindgren, Mitchell whoever else fill in the rest of the spots -- take off the diapers and turn them loose. I don't care if they flop on their faces...and I DO NOT think all of them will. Lets find out a few things AND SAVE SOME MONEY for other areas.

I'm getting sick and tired of watching these less than "lights-out" overpaid pitchers while there are homegrown kids on the farm doing well. We're not asking them to pitch 200 innings...this is RELIEF work.. spread it around and stop being a slave to this A-B-C- reliever playbook.
i.e So and so has to pitch the 7th,..so and so has to pitch the 8th..

Toss Montgomery into the relief mixture.

We're seen Claiborne, ugh....move on to others. Stop warehousing these kids and get them up here while they're in their early 20s.

...Monty still has some issues to work out.

With all due respect I agree with many others who say that WAR is one of the dumbest stats ever put into use. On a personal note, they're enough stats as is to measure a players abilities without inventing more. So please enough with WAR.

...WAR is just one of many stats that can be used...but yeah, it's certainly not an "end all" stat. WAR numbers can also change depending on what site they are obtained from because there is not a clear cut universal formula for measuring WAR.

There is more than one version/formula for WAR.
While I don't care for either one, I do think there is a place for having one general stat for grading a player's overall abilities including defense... AND speed/baserunning abilities/assets.

They'll always be very good hitters who are slow runners, and they'll always find a job, lol -
- but something has to be said for players with GOOD speed who aren't easy outs on practically any type of infield ground ball and hardly ever go from 1st to 3rd on a single.
Also capable of stealing a couple/few bases with a good success percentage.

Players (exclude your very good/outstanding hitters) who are slugs on the bases harm a team's offense over the course of a season.

^^^yup...and I have a hard time buying that Mike Trout has a negative defensive WAR. (-0.5)

...I guess he doesn't throw out batters at 1st base on ground balls to CF.

Again, stupid comparison...
