Seriously, why all the hype? I know Myspace is kinda cheezy but Facebook is glorified Instant Messenger. I just don't get it. Twitter, too. Glorified IM...
 
I'm not a fan of social networking sites. I'm pretty sure I erased all my accounts on those sites.

how is it anything like a glorified instant messenger?

they did add the chat feature so that it can be used as an instant messenger, but i don't see what you're saying. i liked facebook much better a few years ago though. they keep changing it and it becomes more and more like myspace or twitter or whatever else.
 
I'm not into them either so I have a somewhat neutral opinion. Myspace>Facebook>Twitter, IMO.
 
Both those sites went down the drain once they started with these retarded apps for your profile.
 
I have a Facebook account only. Deleted my Myspace account a few months ago. Facebook is cool for getting in contact with old friends from high school and college and keeping in better touch with current friends (sharing pics etc).

And Myspace doesn't do the same thing? It's exactly the same, in that regard, but Myspace isn't as dreadfully plain. I know people like facebook for it's simplicity but it's too simple for it's own good.

That's why I like it, it's simple. Myspace was too cute, to much crap.
 
I like facebook because of hte plainness. I left myspace once everyones profiles were different and you had stupid songs pop up immediately when you went to someones page.
 
All my friends from high school and some of my cousins were doing it so I decided to do it. It is pretty stupid. Every time I log on I'm bombarded with people posting stupid stuff like, "I ran a mile today, I'm exhausted", "I'm looking for a wedding dress", "I just went to the store, it was packed". . .

I don't need to read people's everyday chores. People who don't have anything going on in their life are generally the one's who feel the need to report what they do on a daily basis on a website.

Its like a glorified diary.

Another thing that bothers me is when people give you a bunch of requests for stupid shit. In my requests thing I have people sending me the most stupid requests to join their little clubs or what not. So stupid. I'm sorry.

I agree. That part sucks. HCP keeps asking me to join his "Fans of Barbie Dolls" group. :crazy:

What I like is that you can block the people that you dont care to see their status updates etc. They are still your "friend", but you dont have to filter thru all their crap every time you log on.

I dont have a Twitter account. Dont know anything about it, havent ever checked it out.

I made the mistake of joining one of those clubs... I got bombared with notifications about retarded shit about how many members have joined and stuff. Until I left.
 
Twitter is great for journalism. Other than that, it's pretty useless. I honestly don't want people texting me that "they've fallen in love with some shoe" or "are eating spaghetti for dinner".

Facebook is a great way to stay in touch with/find old friends, and a good way to share photos. You don't have to join the dumb groups/causes or use the applications...that's up to you.

I actually really dig facebook. I was on myspace for about six months til I switched over. It has been cool getting back in touch with my friends from way back. And don't tell anybody, but BeerBoy's wife sends me some freaky-ass messages. I love it!
 
I accept no applications or polls....i hate those on facebook.

only reason I have myspace is to keep up with bands, clubs, etc. Lots of event schedules, plus I have a profile tracker that shows me who goes on my profile...that's always interesting.

twitter is great for news feeds IMO.

And that's it. As mentioned earlier, I don't give a crap what somebody is doing or how they feel MULTIPLE TIMES A DAY. Sure, update your Facebook status once a week or so, that's cool with me. I'm only on there to catch up with old friends, keep in touch with work people, and let my old girlfriends see how hot my wife is via the photo function.
 
but facebook has been a decent way to see what people you knew in high school, grade school or even college are up to without bothering to see them. kind of strange to see how people turned out....

facebook status is good for seeing if people are going somewhere....sometimes I get invites for get togethers or a friend from college is coming into town. ask if people are hitting up vegas, sometimes people message me back and we just connect or something.

When I see some of the people I accepted as "Friends" when I started on Facebook last year, I realize that I was much less selective at that point. No way some of them would make the cut now. I don't even know half of the people I went to HS with, yet some are my "Friends". I'm pretty sure I've never uttered a word to some of them.

yeah, i communicate with like 10% of my "friends" on facebook really. if I am really a friend with someone I email or text them....facebook is merely for prurient interests only.

It's a way to keep up with people you don't see or have fallen out of touch with and plan trips that will likely never happen.

nah, I have managed to keep trips with people though. like last christmas, i said I would be in PDX and Seattle and I managed to meet up with several friends that way.

Yes, I miss that part of myspace. I wish Facebook had something similiar for bands.

Yeah, that's true. I've had a few friends tell me they were coming to PDX and we meet up for a beer.
 
I have totally hooked up with a couple of my ex's!(BeerBoy's wife for example) Lovin' it!
