1. DJ Premier - beats bring out the pure essence of hip hop.
2. Havoc - just that grimey New York street music.
3. RZA - after all these years, dude's still got it (check out "state of grace")
4. Organized Noise - extremely underrated....I think ATLiens just might be the best produced album ever
5. Dr. Dre - some people think he's overrated, because he fell off a little bit....to those people I say "shut your mouth"....the doc is very versatile behind the boards

My top 5:

1. DJ Premier
2. Pete Rock
3. Dr. Dre
4. RZA
5. J-Dilla

Honorable Mention: Stoupe Da Enemy, 9th Wonder, Scott Storch, The Alchemist, DJ Muggs, Havoc, Timbaland, 7L, Lord Finesse, Buckshot, Diamond D.

Cee-Lo. YEEEE!!!

he's in Gnarls Barkley, individual artist, produces the Danger Doom stuff from adult swim, AND produces GORILLAZ.

Only thing i don't like...is that he wrote Dontcha for the ***** Cat Dolls. lmao

Don't forget Large Professor and Timbaland are two icons.
The L.E.S. is also a top tier producer.

In no order:

Dr. Dre
RZA
Just Blaze
Havoc
The Alchemist

I'm suprised nobody mentioned Just Blaze.

1. Dr Dre & his long list of co-producers (Scott Storch, Freddwreck etc)
2. Darkchild
3. Timbaland
4. DJ Quik
5. Soleternity (cat from ATL)

I think you have Cee-Lo and Danger Mouse mixed up. DJ Danger Mouse (creator of the Grey Album) produced the newest Gorillaz CD as well as the new Gnarls Barkley release and the Dangerdoom CD. Cee-Lo Brown is the singer in the group Gnarls Barkley which consists of him and (surprise!) Danger Mouse, the producer.

Anyways..

My favorite producers are Pharrell, Kanye, Ant (from Atmosphere) and Danger Mouse.

1. dj premier. in my opinon, unquestionably the best producer in hip hop history
2. the alchemist
3. pete rock
4. grouch
5. Diamond D

-DJ Premier. I've said this time and time again on JBB.
-Neptunes
-Dr. Dre
-RZA

Premier, Kanye, Just Blaze, Alchemist, Dr. Dre, Timbaland.

The Runners are nice, even though their beats seem repetetive

4. Jay Dilla
5. Pete Rock

1.) Prince Paul

it's a damn shame we're the only 2 that have Prince Paul on our lists..

Ah yes, Prince Paul, totally forgot about him. I'm a Gravediggaz fan too, lol. Shame on me.

I've learned to not be dissapointed in people's tastes when it comes to music or film, because if I am then it'll just hurt me in the end because people listen to some straight up sh*t.

prince paul i admire what he does with his beats but i can't say I LIKE them. he's a producer's producer. and he is not in the league of Premier, Dre, RZA etc
