Are any of you guys in New York bracing for this latest snowstorm that is suppose to start tomorrow? I'm in Queens & they're talking about ANOTHER foot of snow. I'll tell you between the cold & the snow (57 inches to date) this has been one of the worst winters I've seen in a long time.

Anyway, its suppose to start tomorrow & go through Monday.

Be safe everyone.

What's snow? lol! Although we have day 4 of rain coming here in SoCal, 36 days to go!

I've seen a number of different reports... I follow Eastern PA Weather Authority https://www.facebook.com/easternpaweatherauthority and Severe NJ Weather https://www.facebook.com/SevereNJwx on facebook and they have both been dead on this winter... They are both saying that the current system coming through has shifted south... meaning numbers are much lower now... but they left the possibility that the system could shift back to the north... we'll see...

My driving days unfortunately are long over so you just be careful on the roads.

Thanks. I am anticipating my site will be closed on Monday, but if it isn't, it'll be a LONG drive in... normally an hour in good weather... again, thanks

Well its 11:22pm here in NY & not a DROP of snow.

As cold as it has been all winter, no snow? I have never seen any winter this strange, and cold, I mean minus 30+ in may states, with more snow than any time in history. I have two friends who live a hour north of Detroit, and another in Columbus Ohio. They both said, their area broke records for snowfall and lowest temps on record, that were set in 1908, of which both areas shattered the old records.

How much snow has NY seen this year? Have you too had freezing weather beyond the norm of any year. I bet so. Damn, I hope your staying warm.
We had one month, December when it got down to 9 degrees. That was it. We had some flooding rain for 2 days just yesterday & the day prior. But that is it, I haven't seen good amount of rain other than this week, in the last 3 yrs. We have 80 degree suntan days, and near freezing nights. Yet, the fruit trees and produce has actually arrived earlier than any year prior. Imagine 3rd week of Feb. and we had fresh California strawberries, unimaginable. I thought they were radiated Mexican Hot house berries, but no, they were from Oxnard. How strange the differences b/t here & the rest of the nation.

Mattingly23.....I'm 2 hours south of you, in Northeast San Diego county. Nice to have another SoCal Yankee fan.

as an accountant I FUCKING HATE SNOW! IRS doesn't give a shit about snow and losing hours is not an option, so glad this latest storm stayed south of us

These forecasters who basically get paid for guessing since they're wrong more then 1/2 the time, went from 1 ft of snow to 6-8 inches, to 3-6 inches. We ended up with a dusting of MAYBE 1/4 of an inch. But trust me with the winter we've been having, this is one time I was very happy they were wrong.

with four herninated discs shoveling snow is crippling and hiring someone is costly...I am a very old 40

Al with all due respect I'm near 60 and between the ages of 40-54 I had 16 back operations I've had 11 discs removed & at one point I had 67 pieces of metal in my back holding my spine together & up to a few years ago I was still shoveling snow. Don't get me wrong, I don't mean to down play your pain because as you know, once the back goes, it REALLY sucks.

Rick = Lee Majors lol

so rick...ya calling me a pussy...eh..i am lol...I don't handle pain well at all. ill admit it

No my friend, just saying that once you start having back problems sometimes its just better (and safer) to just throw some 16 year old $20 bucks to bust there ass while you're watching with a cup of hot chocolate.

I know you were kidding...it just does suck...last storm all i did was push the snow..not even lifting up the shovel and an hour later i was laying flat on my back with the wife saying do you want pain killers...i hate taking those

the kids in the neighborhood all rather fly around on their quads than earn money..i have an older brother of a kid i coach who comes with his snow blower and shovel me out at $40 a clip.. dam expensive!

Screw the snow blower & the $40.00 a shovel & $20.00 to a 15-16 year old should do it. My neighbors kid 16 on the last storm a few weeks ago charged $20.00 & he snowed 11 walk ways for people in the neighborhood. He busted his ass, it took 4-5 hours but hell, $220.00 for the day. WOW!

yeah Rick, but the kids of my neighborhood have no desire to do manual work. they are all on xbox or riding around on quads and dirt bikes

^^^today's kids are looking for someone to invent an app to do it for them. HA!

That's what happens when you live in a rich neighborhood.

eh...I wouldn't say im totally in a rich neighborhood, just a bunch of lazy kids
don't let my location fool you..it says Manorville, but there are parts where the money is not huge...
look at me, I am an accountant and my wife is a teacher and we barely make all our payments

Hey an accountant for the mob & your wife being a teacher for the kids in Beverly Hills can't be all bad.

there are a lot of criminals out there that's for sure.
wife has been bitten and has had a desk thrown at her, a lot of single parent homes in the district she works for

but the benefits are GREAT!

...only way I'd be a teacher today is if I were allowed to carry a gun, and allowed to use it at my discretion.

That's because the costs in this county continue to spiral out of control. My wife is a teacher as well. The benefits are truly incredible. She finishes up school in June for her administration certificate.

my wife has her masters in reading I think long term goal of hers would be something in admin

It's not a bad program. Once she's done she will be Masters +35 which is a nice pay increase even if she stayed at her current position. Got the supervisors certificate first and actually takes the principal's test next month. It's like $500 to take the test so I told her she better pass lol.

once the wife got her masters, she continued getting credits through online classes that were cheap, unfortunately no more in house credits available now we would have to pay some decent bucks to get her to the next pay level (if that makes sense to you)

Yup, my wife's program hasn't exactly been cheap but overall with the pay increase it makes sense and pays for itself rather quickly. Then getting on the admin pay scale in a district is another nice bump. Not bad considering you eventually retire with a pension and benefits.
