Now, don't flame me on this as I am just the messenger here: :devilwink:

Chances are, the Bobcats have leverage in these negotiations with restricted free-agent point guard Raymond Felton. That could potentially change -- emphasize the word "potentially'' -- if the Utah Jazz chooses to match the Portland Trail Blazers' offer sheet to power forward Paul Millsap.

If Millsap goes back to Utah, then Portland starts shopping again. The Blazers would be one of the few teams with considerable salary-cap room this summer and GM Kevin Pritchard has acknowledged some interest in Felton.

I don't know if Felton would be next on Portland's wish list. And even then, would the Blazers value Felton enough to offer him more than the Bobcats would match to retain him? All good questions, because it's hard to gauge how the Bobcats' financial issues affect what they would or wouldn't do to maintain their core talent.

Recall managing partner Michael Jordan saying he didn't see any situation "where (Felton) is not with us.'' It would be interesting to see some other team test that presumption.

All speculation. Felton is garbage.

Felton looked great towards the end of last season. However, if he's our big free agent signing with all this capspace and an owner who has said he's willing to open up the wallet. I'll be pretty disappointed.

Felton seems like a very expensive Bayless to me. I don't see how he adds to this team, especially at the asking price. If they didn't like Andre Miller because of his outside shooting, then I can't see them being interested in Felton.

Felton actually seems to me to be a more expensive Sergio Rodriguez, at least on offense. He has a high Assist Rate, a high-ish (but more manageable) turnover rate, and can't shoot for nuts.

He's supposedly a good defender (don't watch Felton enough to know), so that might make him better than Rodriguez...but not good enough that I'd prefer him over Blake or necessarily even Bayless in the short-term (in the long-term, I'd much rather see what Bayless can do), since he'll cost more.

Even I would rather go after Sessions before Felton.. Felton sucks.

So much hate for Felton. He averaged 6.7 assists (better than Billups, Andre Miller and Sessions) on a brutal team.

He's got good assist numbers.. but is a sub-40 percent shooter for his career. Ugly.

He also played 37.6 MPG to get those assist numbers....

I like Felton.

He can distribute the ball and he's a good outside defender, something we lack sorely.

As others have pointed out, he can't score from outside though.
