Kind of a fun article. No real amazing insights, though.
Fernandez a rookie in name only

"He's better than a player who spent four years in college,'' McMillan said Saturday. "He's been in big games his whole life. You can see that out on the floor. For years, he's been the go-to guy on his team. We go to him here, too, but he's also having to play off some of our other guys.''
Said Fernandez, in improving English: "Brandon is a superstar. When he's playing, he makes more space for the shooters.''
McMillan at times this fall has been muted in his praise of Fernandez -- a noticeable shift from August -- in what some Blazers insiders see as a motivational tactic, a way of challenging him and keeping him grounded. But get the Blazers' coach talking about the potential of using Fernandez and Roy together in the backcourt -- something they've done so far only in stretches of six or seven minutes -- and his eyes light up. Against New Orleans the other night, it forced Byron Scott to stick defensive ace James Posey on one of them, with Chris Paul or Peja Stojakovic left to fend off the other.
"That's a lineup I'm still looking at,'' McMillan said. "We have matchups [advantages]. With Brandon playing the point, who do you put your point guard on? Recognizing that and knowing the plays to call, that is those two guys and this team picking up things like that.''
Said Roy: "We're tough for teams to defend. I'm good with the ball, he's good without the ball. You have to ask yourself, Who do you put your best defender on? We're going to develop even more chemistry as the season goes on.''

That is good news. I wondered how these two would coexist since both are use to being "the man". I thought their chemistry had looked better until the last game when Rudy had an off game. Some of that is due to Nate not playing Rudy much in the 4th quarter. I don't know about the rest of you but I would like to see us roll out a lineup of Roy, Rudy, Travis, LMA and Oden as our 4th quarter closing team.

In the little to nothing I know of the inner-workings of the lockerroom I just can't see anyone not getting along with Brandon.

I don't think there's much question about Roy, Rudy, LMA and Oden. Travis I'm not so sure about. You go with whichever among Travis, Blake, Batum, Sergio or Webster (when he's back) is playing best that night.

Roy is a dominant personality. Not everyone meshes with that sort of person.

Nice puff peice. Always fun to read glowing articles about players on your team.

I'd love to see Rudy and Roy play together in the backcourt for solid stretches of games, to see how viable it is as a "standard configuration."

Rudy is our 2nd best offensive player. He needs more touches!

You would think but they are human and there are always issues that come up. Like last year LMA felt slighted by Roy for not inviting him over. It's also human nature to get jealous especially with Roy and Oden getting so much national attention.

I think that is a pretty fair statement. I am sure he will rub some people the wrong way. Too bad for them.
Jealousy will always rear its ugly head. It is inevitible. But I am glad Rudy is not one of them. I was concerned with how it would work out between Rudy, Roy, Martel and Bayless.

Rudy and Roy without a PG late in the game is not ideal - Roy does not see the rest of the team that well, and the offense does not flow (at least not so far). Sergio or even Blake needs to be in the game.

The biggest difference between Roy and Rudy is that Rudy can be extremely successful moving without the ball. He can spot up, he can slash, he is athletic. Roy on the other hand likes to have the ball in his hands. They can totally play together.
