I disagree with Ms. Stassel that somehow the Democrat members want it more than the GOP members, as I think they are both equally corrupt and craven, but at least four members of Congress (five if you include the letter Sen. Heller sent to OPM) are standing up for what's right.

They exempt businesses, but keep the individual mandate. They exempt unions, but force everyone else to buy their specified insurance. And now they make a sweetheart deal for themselves, because they don't wish to live under a law they created. I guess laws really are for the little people.

What a fascinating dilemma.

Clearly the GOP is appreciative of the handout from Obama (as are the Democrats). If they opt to make a political issue of it, it turns them into hypocrites over the issue. They want the exemption every bit as much as the dems do. They probably even lobbied for it behind the scenes.

Were I the GOP I think I’d just say “thanks” to the Prez and keep on. At least that’s be the genuine thing to do.
