First black Muslim Appeals judge Sheila Abdus-Salaam found dead

Abdus-Salaam’s body was found in the Hudson River on Wednesday, showing no signs of obvious injury, police said. Abdus-Salaam was nominated to the state Court of Appeals as an associate judge in 2013 by Governor Andrew Cuomo.
