Made the front page of Reddit.

Edit - this video is going viral and will most likely spread to larger sources. Supposedly there were football players there. I guess we'll see what happens (if anything.)

Re: Way to represent...

"After Oregon wide receiver Josh Huff took to Twitter Friday morning to organize a snowball fight outside the EMU, he moved the location of that bout to the fields next to the Rec Center. Not everyone got the memo. As of 1:10 p.m., there was still a sizable snow war happening outside the Erb Memorial Union. Here’s a spot of video from the event"

"Oregon football player apologizes for unidentified teammates harassing driver during snowball fight"

http://www.oregonlive.com/ducks/index.ssf/2013/12/oregon_football_player_apologi.html

Oregon lineman Andre Yruretagoyena issued an apology on Twitter tonight for the actions of a small number of his unidentified teammates -- along with other students -- in the aftermath of Friday's football players versus students snowball fight on campus, which started out as a fun event but evidently later got out of hand.

The university's dean of students, Paul Shang, has released a statement in the incident, saying "it would be premature to speculate about any potential outcomes in this case."

The full statement reads:

"The University of Oregon Police Department is investigating an incident, captured on video, in which a passing vehicle was the target of snowballs thrown by young people in an area on the UO campus. Police hope to determine the identities of those who were throwing snowballs, whether they are UO students and whether their actions constitute a criminal act.

"The University of Oregon takes the conduct of its students seriously. Consequences are clear for those whose actions reflect poorly upon the university or violate its standards for student behavior. However, until the facts of the snowball-throwing incident are sorted out, it would be premature to speculate about any potential outcomes in this case."

OMG!!!!

A snowball fight...isn't that a sign of Ragnorak or something?

Did you guys watch the video?

It's not about the snowball fight. It's about blocking traffic and then pelting people with snowballs and dumping bins of snow on them when they get out of the vehicle. Not allowing them to leave.

Man targeted by Oregon football players, others in snowball fight reportedly won't pursue charges
http://www.oregonlive.com/ducks/index.ssf/2013/12/man_targeted_by_oregon_footbal.html#incart_river

KATU's Anna Canzano has talked with the man who was harassed after students stopped his car and began pelting it with snowballs. She reports he is Sherwin Simmons, 68, a retired professor. "It was a snowball fight," Simmons, who does not plan to press charges, told Canzano. "The students shouldn't involve people who aren't part of it, but this is not high crimes, not an assault, not even a misdemeanor. No one should be charged. That would be nuts."

What a bunch of disrespectful morons. Wow, that was painful to watch.

Oregon Football ‏@WinTheDay

TE Pharaoh Brown has been suspended for the @valeroalamobowl by @CoachHelfrich for his role in Friday's snowball incident

I actually saw his name mentioned in the thread on Reddit before it was deleted per their rules on personal information.

I didn't want to believe he was involved. That sucks.

A lot of student athletes were chiming in on Reddit, pointing out that they knew most of the guys in the video and that the football players are entitled assholes. Really sucks that it ended this way.

Boy, that escalated quickly... I mean, that really got out of hand fast.

Brick killed a guy. Did you throw a trident?

I am changing my mind on MH.

Suspending guys before the bowl game = setting up an excuse to lose. I'm afraid Targus is right about him.

lol give me a break... and if Helfrich doesnt suspend him, then its "Helf doesnt have the balls Chip did, and you can smell how desperate Helf is to not lose, thats why he isnt suspending anyone"

The Canzano/Quick types will find an excuse to bash the program over this anyway. It is pointless to pander to people you can't please anyway. Helfrich should have put the team first and found an alternative way to deal with this. If he was a leader that had the respect of his players, he wouldn't need to over-react to a freaking snowball fight!

exactly. Pharaoh has issued an apology for being in a snowball fight and grown men 2-3 times their age are spending time grousing over this nonsense like it's actually something. Good grief. Most of the players I've met while I was attending UO and afterwords have been entitled idiots... heck I could extend that statement to most college students I've known and myself at that age. I'm under no illusion that todays Duck players are all that different. Given that, I'm supposed to be stunned or outraged that kids were being stupid or disappointed that the coach disciplined them (or not) for being typical stupid kids? Some fans seem to follow sports as an excuse to be openly upset about something other then their own lives

And that's how they act when their sober? Too bad he didn't run them over.

It wasn't just a snowball fight. They were blocking traffic by standing in the road, dumping snow on cars, and then pelting the drivers when they opened the door. They blocked the road and then they wouldn't move. A snowball fight is between willing participants. This was students blocking streets and then obscuring the vision of the drivers by dumping snow on the windshield. When the drivers got out, they were pelted with snow. If you don't understand how that's serious, I don't know what to tell you. Don't act like it was just a bunch of kids having some fun and a guy walked through the fight and got an errant snowball. THEY WERE BLOCKING TRAFFIC.

Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot you were the resident apologist on the board. The team can do no wrong.

Duly noted. Carry on.

& you remain the board's resident bed wetter... who struggles mightily with reading comprehension

keep up your fine moderating lol

it's not a huge deal, but I feel like the suspension is warranted. You can't treat strangers like that in any type of setting. Lesson learned (I assume).

For those saying the snowgate was not a big deal...

http://www.insideedition.com/headlines/7461-student-disciplined-for-dumping-snow-on-professors-car

Something like 2.5 million views on youtube and national media attention.

And, for those saying he didn't dump snow inside the car...the media and victims say otherwise, but, I'm sure you know better...

The student who dumped snow into a professor's car during a snowball fight at the University of Oregon is now being disciplined. In an INSIDE EDITION online poll, we asked if you think it was right for the University to suspend Brown. 50% said yes and 50% said no.

What they “believe” to be football players? The kid with the bucket that threw the snow INTO the car is clearly Pharaoh Brown, who posted a picture on his twitter of him in the ..... They threw a large amount of it inside his car.

http://dailyemerald.com/2013/12/07/...-pelting-car-with-snowballs-hits-2-on-reddit/

We have identified the football player who threw the snow INSIDE the professor's car (as shown above with the blue container) as Pharaoh ...

http://conservativepost.com/snow-fight-turned-terrible-3/

“We know initially the thing was organized by football players." .... They trashed the one car when they threw snow inside the car."

We get it, you have a law enforcement background and that is your focus on this. IMO this was excessive horseplay. Brown should be disciplined but no matter how many statutes you quote this was not a criminal act.
