Let's assume that things break right for the Blazers (finally!) and we wind up with 2 picks in the 6-12 range. (maybe 8-12)

Given that this is supposed to be a deep draft, would you package those 2 picks to move up? Would you take the safe route and keep both picks, or would you gamble that you could be on the opposite side of Chris Paul-for-Webster-and-Jack?

I know...any number of things could go wrong between now and the draft. Let an old man have a brief moment of optimism!

I guess it would depend on what the final picks work out to be, but if this team had a chance to package picks and move up to get Davis, they'd be fools not to.

Maybe the best bet is to put one of these lotto picks together with Aldridge and try to go get Davis and then save the other pick to draft a guy like Lillard or Beal?

All depends, I suppose, on who declares for the draft, who stays in school, etc. I think a likely scenario is we end up drafting with one of the picks, and trading the other for a younger veteran(Rondo, Josh Smith type).

The Nets traded down when they swapped (now deceased) Eddie Griffin (pick 7) for Richard Jefferson (13), Jason Collins (18) and Brandon Armstrong (23). Not bad for NJ: they got two starters on their back-to-back finals team, while Houston got a headcase who never amounted to anything.

The team needs talent, so I think you need to keep both picks. I'd cross my fingers that Austin Rivers comes out and shoot for him, and then take next best player available when the next pick comes. I'd even look to move into the end of the first round and select Terrence Ross or Tony Wroten if still available. Overall though, looks for young guys with lots of upside and hope to hit on 2 of the 3 (assuming we can get a pick in the early to mid 20's as we have in the past).

After the season is over, and teams like San Antonio start to realize they need to blow it up and rebuild, we could very well be offered players like Tony Parker for the NJ pick.

Maybe projected there, but have no doubt he's a lotto player and willbe drafted there. He's a big Pg, he's a tremendous competitor and a dynamic scorer. Has defense in his blood, and will get great coaching on the college level. Reminds me of Deron Williams with a better jumper at his age.

the guy is a chucker who can make plays but prefores to get his own. Reminds me of tyreke without as much athletism. im in no way sold on him. id take him with the 18-25 but not a lottery pick unless he shows me more then iv seen so far.

He's the best offensive player on the court anytime he plays. You call it"chucking" I'd call it scoring mentality. Either way, and we obviously disagree, I'd call him the closest thing to a guaranteed NBA star in the draft. If you have a lotto pick, take the safe bet and stay away from the Perry Jones' of the world!

I think that it makes sense to keep both picks. There are no sure things, but we should hit on at least one of those two guys... and the Blazers really need to hit on a draft pick to start the upwards climb.

I think the "love" is that a lot of people think he has what Bill Simmons would call DNA ... a certain it factor that a lot of guys don't have. I'm not sure I agree that has this the NBA talent to go along with "it" but he definitely has a big pair of brass balls when he plays.

Bill Simmons is generally full of shit, but in this case he seems to be particularly worthless... lots of players are successful (even all-star) players without having that type of personality (see Aldridge) and lots of players fail in spite of having it.
