Former Duck QB leaves PD for TV

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. - A former Duck quarterback who joined the Springfield Police Department in July resigned last week and will take a job as a television football analyst.
Nate Costa left the department last week and will take a football analyst job at Comcast SportsNet Northwest, Capt. Rich Harrison confirmed to KVAL News.

If he wanted to do TV, why did he take the job with the PD? I hope Nate does well in TV, but perhaps the Eugene PD missed out on a great candidate who wanted to make a career of law enforcement.

Well hopefully they didn't spend any money on him. It's expensive for a small department like Springfield to send a candidate to the DPSST, only to have them walk away after only a couple months. DPSST is a six month process to get certified so it's possible that he was a couple months into his certification. I hope he knows what he's doing because I doubt he'll ever get another job in law enforcement. It's great that he got an analyst position, but there's no telling if that will work long term. Once you've logged a year as a cop, it's pretty much guaranteed that you have a decent paying career for life (unless you fuck it up).
