Framing and Matting

I have a painting of Kobe Bryant called "Chasing Perfection" that I want to get framed and matted. Then I have two other posters that I want to get in frames.

Where's the best place to go get this done? This stuff, I hear, is pretty expensive. For the frame ones, I can frame it myself, just need to get the frames. Would it be good to just check out a thrift store like Goodwill for some used frames. Try to snatch some in good condition? Only problem is that one of the posters is a pretty odd size. Or should I just order some off Amazon?

Don't really want to do the matting one by myself though. Dedicated frame shops are probably more expensive than big chains. So for anyone with experience, how cheap and good are Hobby Lobby and Michaels. Does Walmart do framing and matting?

measure it, then buy a pre-made frame based on the measurements at some frame store. sometimes one has a buy one get one for a penny sale.

I already know all the measurements. 11x17, 13x19, and 17x22. The measurements were listed when I bought the stuff.

yeah, they should have pre made frames for them. just take the back off, and put it back. not the greatest but it usually does ok. most are cheap shit, if you want it looking nice it'll cost you $100+.

If you were in the Portland area, I could help you out because my wife and I do custom framing. Since you're not, your cheapest route is undoubtedly to go with a standard frame. The problem is that standard frames come in even dimensions, so you'll need to have a mat cut to provide an opening that will work for your print and then fit into the standard frame. That's the preferred method anyway because the mat keeps the print from touching the glass, which prevents problems down the road of the image adhering to the glass over a period of time. As mentioned by others, Michael's and Aaron Brothers are decent places to go. I think Aaron Brothers usually has one of their specials in July where you buy one frame and get a second one of equal or lesser value for a penny. You can also order the frames on line from dickblick.com (not a name you're likely to forget).
