Her in Florida if someone enters your residence without your permission it is widely advised through the media that you call 911 and have them removed. I do have ADT and a beagle that raises holy hell if you are in his yard. If someone is not discouraged enough to try and enter we have something else that is not pleasant. C ops arriving at your residence finding business taken care of will consider you to be a good citizen. I do appreciate that folks may defend their homes but the Florida "stand your ground rules" need a bit more definition.
I'm not very aware of that law, only wish we had one similar. Yet, like so often in politics, laws are either too vague or ambiguous.
I have a Buddy and Wife, who have ran their own business for 35 yrs. After being broken into via the back door, (and a few new doors, bars, and new door frames later)- my buddy got tired of replacing his doors. So He made his back office into a bedroom, and spent the nights there. Not even a month upon making his business his home, a black guy breaks in with a crowbar, my friend comes out 10 feet in front of the crook. The crook is waving it at him the entire time, until they reach the front of the store, with no where else to go, with the flailing crowbar, Bobby puts 2ea 9MM bullets in his chest.
The Sheriff shows up, investigates, and within 2 hours, states publicly,
"this was one of the most justifiable, warranted shootings". Not one peep out of the black community.
A year later, they move their business across town. This time with his Wife minding the store, while He is working out of town, (doing the sound for the TV show "Cops"). His wife hears loud thuds coming from the wall separating their business with the neighboring business. Two black kids, with a hatchet broke thru the walls, to get to their business, (which is pricy sports collectibles). She shot one dead on the spot, hit the other one, who fled, and was bleeding out, turned himself in 1/2 hour later, before he damn near died. Again, LASD, states:
"100% within the letter of the law".
my point, tho' is: why the fk should anyone have to defend themselves or businesses, property with a gun?

I'm a peaceful loving man, but at times, would rather see an all out war; only then will the streets get cleaned up....
Here, Law Enforcement has been battered by the public, almost to a point of being unable to do their jobs- my brother complained 10 yrs ago; this was the #1 problem facing so. cal. law enforcement: bowing to black public ignorance or- pressure when its not warranted. Sure there will be and have been times, when pressure from within, (not without) was due, but that is not the norm here.....
Most Ca. Fortune 500 companies, Human Resources dept's, are scared to death to fire a black, or Latino, due to NAACP fears. As for Latino's they're not a minority here, but get all the bennies of being one nationally. WTF....! In fact around 2001/02, at the Northrop shipyards in Pascagoula, a black young man, a hard worker too, was held back for a promotion from being a mechanic, to becoming an Inspector. His Manufacturing Mgr, held him back on a
'Vital to the program HR loop hole'. The next day the guy comes to work with a .38 handgun, and shot dead, both his Mfg. Supv, and Mgr. He gave the gun to the Q.A. Supervisor, that had wanted to hire him.
