Frye out for the rest of the seasonNEW YORK (AP) -- New York Knicks rookie Channing Frye will miss the rest of the season because of a sprained left knee ligament. An MRI exam in New York on Wednesday confirmed the injury. Frye will be on crutches for the next three weeks, but surgery will not be needed. The Knicks expect Frye to be able to return in time for summer league play in July.Frye was injured early in the fourth quarter of the Knicks' 114-109 loss to the Toronto Raptors on Tuesday night. Toronto's Andre Barrett was racing upcourt with the ball with a little more than 9 1/2 minutes left when Knicks guard Nate Robinson, chasing him from behind, appeared to try to swipe the ball away. Barrett lost his balance and fell into Frye's left leg.The eighth pick in last year's draft, Frye has been one of the top rookies in the NBA this season. He is third among first-year players with 12.3 points per game, and also ranks in the top five in field goal percentage (47.7 percent) and rebounds (5.8).

It won't affect their season or anything else for that matter.

Your right, all that'll effect is Frye's ROY campaign..((for 2nd place))

nah it'll have some affect. he was having a good game last night for the first time in a while. he had 4 blocks and 14 or 16 points. now the knicks are gonna have to start taylor or rose at pf. taylor has barely played and rose is hurt. i know the season is over but this is when you start to prepare for next season. i hope frye is okay. it's probably the best thing to do tho. you don't want him to try to be a hero in games that are virtually meaningless.

so you say it does have an effect, but than you said all the games are meaningless?..what effect would it have..if thats what you really mean

maybe it won't have an effect, forget i said that. i shouldn't have said the games are meaningless cuz the rest of the players gotta show brown who wants to stay and who wants out. i think Q and francis definitely want out.the rest of this season is kinda important because they gotta prepare for next year. i would've liked to see frye finish the season strong instead of with an injury. hopefully he isn't injury prone throughout his career.
