Stoners usually get the rap of being slackers and/or less motivated. I stopped smoking weed about 2 months ago to focus more on myself and making money.

Do you know stoners that do well for themselves in non-drug related businesses?

I have read articles from Vancouver, BC that there are heroin users there with steady jobs.

As for marijuana, there are millions of users who are employed in the US. I would think some are upper middle class.

yes but she isn't exactly a millionaire, if that's what you mean?

My best friend is one of the smartest people at my school, and gets straight A's in Pharmacy school and gets high regularly with me. The UFC commentator/shitty comedian Joe Rogan gets high literally every single day. This is a guy who trains Jiu Jitsu, does UFC events and promos, and does stand up comedy, along with the occasional tv show here and there, and he gets high everyday almost.

The best programmer I have ever met smokes weed almost daily. He has developed software for AT&T, IBM and Cisco. He told me it helps him relax and think about solutions more creatively. I'll send him code that I have problems with and he'll respond with these ingenious solutions. He'll write 1 or 2 lines of code that does the same thing as 10 lines of my code. He's pretty open about smoking herb too.

Rush Limbaugh was addicted to pain killers for years until he went to rehab in 03

You should watch his podcast over at ustream. Funny stuff. He does a 2 hr + show every Wednesday(high most of the time)

Got a buddy that's a tattoo artist. Smokes weed everyday. I think he's at the point where he'd be worse off without it.

I used to really like him and find him entertaining. Then after I started listening to the podcast, I realized how much of a moron he was, and he spews shit he knows nothing about. I think he is one of the best MMA commentaries, but after that I think he is a horrible comedian and his points are idiotic.

It all depends on what you call functional.

My best friend graduated 4.0 from Pacific with a degree in Chemistry and now does soil toxin analysis work for an independent lab in Tigard. He's extremely smart, remembers everything and can multitask like a motherfucker. He also goes through an ounce a month.

He is, however, wasting the rest of his life playing videogames, reading trashy scifi and listening to the most obscure music I've ever encountered all while ignoring his hot and loving girlfriend. Those things are not caused by the weed, but that's what he does when he smokes, which is whenever he's not at work.

So, it's hit or miss.

Me? It makes me so slow and retarded, I can only do one thing at a time, and nothing that involves any thought. I love getting up in the morning, roasting and then going to work out. Anything beyond that is impossible.

I know someone who was a flop in high school, took 200 acid trips, was busted twice, then held some jobs, went back to school, got a Bachelors in electrical engineering at a name college, and makes very good bucks now at the Pentagon keeping the buildings around there working. He has some level of secrecy clearance, not the top I'm sure. He's also a lot dumber than me, but he went for the money while I went for the basketball message board. So who's the retarded one? Probably the idiots who have given 50 million Americans criminal records over their petty rules of morality. Imagine if the controlled American media actually allowed both sides to be argued. It would be argument over, fast.

Whenever someone tells you the majority believes such-and-such, ask yourself whether it's because the media exposes them only to one side of the story.
