dont like it. we still need a pf...with frye and outlaw gone, ike? wtf s-bo?

RJ and picks wouldn't be bad. I mean obviously it's not what we had hoped for, but I think that RJ is an upgrade over Outlaw. I know some would disagree with that assessment, but I personally think he might do well here. The trade also alleviates some of the logjam at the point, and provides us with a clear starter at small forward, so Batum can come off the bench.

However, I think there would need to be another trade. If this deal went down, who is our second point guard right now? Do we NEED a second point guard? Do they just rotate Rudy, Roy, and Bayless as the three guards in the rotation?

I think we might need to make a second deal, a smaller one, for a backup point guard. Any thoughts?

Side note: something that stands out to me is that the picks are included in the deal. We all know how KP feels about draft picks.

Does Milwaukee really need 2 more point guards? Don't they already have 3 mediocre points there? I suppose you could argue they are just filler, but really I don't see a reason for them to take more points. And I think Sergio would look even worse in Skile's system than he does in McMillan's.

RLEC, Travis, Sergio AND Frye for RJ and Jones. NO way jose.

What are we REALLY giving up though? Sergio? He won't even be playing once Blake comes back. Frye? He's the definition of a scrub right now. Travis? Sure, he's a large part of our rotation, but RJ would more than makeup for it, I think. RLEC? What if this really is the best option on the table right now?

Ridnour is out, which gives some timeliness to this rumor.

BEST POSSIBLE VERSION OF THIS TRADE:

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/featur...ms=14~14~14~14~15~22~15~15~22~22~22&te=&cash=

BLAZERS OUT ---> Raef, TO, Frye, Sergio to Heat
BLAZERS IN <--- Jefferson, Haslem, Alexander, Allen

BUCKS OUT ---> Jefferson, Alexander, Allen to Blazers
BUCKS IN <--- Marion, Diawara, Quinn

HEAT OUT ---> Marion, Quinn, Diawara to Bucks // Haslem to Blazers
HEAT IN <--- Raef, TO, Frye, Sergio

***draft pick(s) and cash compensation(s) may be necessary***

That trade sounds nice to me. I do wonder about the back up at PF however with Travis out. If LaMarcus goes down we are really screwed.

guys i dont think milwaukie is going to trade alexander.

I think it might be better if we could pry Mbah a Moute from them, maybe replace Allen with him.

Milwaukee would then send Richard Jefferson to Portland and Portland would get draft picks from Miami

Miami would receive Travis Outlaw, Raef's contract Channing Frye and Portland would also send Sergio to Milwaukee
So Outlaw, Frye, Sergio, and the expiring contract of LeFrentz for Richard Jefferson???

No way. That's too much for a guy who is only barely better than Outlaw.

If by "barely" you mean 100X better than Outlaw, I agree.

Maybe I need to watch more of RJ this season, because I never thought he was as bad as people are claiming him to be.

I don't see why Portland or Milwaukee needs Miami in this trade. Presumably Milwaukee would be doing it because they are giving up on this season (24-28 record and Michael Redd down), and want to go younger and save money now and shed salary. They would not be resigning Marion, so wouldn't they prefer RLEC in any deal?

Here's a possible deal that would be just between those two teams (and works salary-wise):

Portland sends Sergio, Frye, Outlaw and RLEC and receives back Ridnour and Jefferson.

This would also satisfy all the criteria listed previously for the other rumored trade--eastern conference, PG and SF, previously pursued and former allstar (Jefferson).

Nate has often said he wants some veteran help, this would surely do that. It's true that Ridnour is probably not an upgrade over Blake, but he is a second experienced, steady PG and I think that is what Nate wants right now, while Bayless develops. It would be easier to work him into our system midseason since he has played for Nate before.

Oops, I just read that Ridnour broke his thumb and will be out for a month; so that kind of scraps that idea.

I really like who we give up, the one thing I don't like is Jefferson. There are plenty of people i'd rather get... Prince, Wallace, Deng and even Butler. Of course Granger. Giving up Outlaw, Sergio, Raef and Frye is awesome. Helps consolidate and get rid of bench players.

But if I had a choice I'd rather not do this trade because I really don't want Jefferson.

Maybe it isn't about a player at all. Maybe the Blazers are changing coaches.
