The 4th line played really well last night outside of a bad change that led to the Wings 3rd goal. Overall, I think the Rangers 4th line is a 4th line. I think we underestimate how limited depth is in the hard capped NHL. Most team's 4th lines are whatever at best. At least we have Bonino who can win FO's (so far he has been a solid signing), and Goodrow, who is a solid 4th line player. I'd agree we could use an upgrade to a gritty/feisty guy as the 3rd player on that line instead of Vesey, but overall, the 4th line is decent I'd say when you look around the NHL.
Solid win last night. As I wrote the other day, every point they get without Fox is a big plus. The team is playing really well, in 1st place with points in 8 straight games (7 of those 8 are wins). Tied for 3rd in the NHL with 19 points overall, and they have allowed the 3rd least number of goals against. Really good stuff. They also have two more very winnable home games, Wild and BJ's, before they get a weird 6 days off in the middle of November. Let's win those games and take a break in style.
Quick side note on the Devils. That team is going to score a lot of goals this season, but I think their D and goaltending is at best below average. Losing Graves and Severson, who each played nearly 20 mpg last season, are big losses. Guys like Hamilton and Hughes are nice offensive dmen, but don't add the presence on D that especially Graves added. They will have exciting regular season games, with a lot of high scoring wins, but in big games against good teams, I wouldn't trust them with that D and goaltending.
