Yes, Little brings a lot of energy, but you can see it's not always good energy. He was a detriment in the first half last night. He just needs to play a little smarter. I really wish Stotts had played him a lot in the lost season last year so he could have worked out some of the kinks.

those +/- stats always come with a little noise so you need to gauge for that

to me, the most surprising thing is how well Dame is showing considering he's shooting so badly. On the other hand, I'd say he's doing the best job he ever has in running the offense. That goes to explain his +/-

If the Blazers could bottle up that 2nd Half and make that the way they play every game, they'd make noise in the playoffs.

I was thinking the exact same thing last night during the 1st half. Great energy sometimes out of position. I remember one time he ran at 3 point shooter in bottom of zone and so CJ switched to top guy, problem was little went right back up to top guy leaving corner 3 open.

I'm very happy with Nas right now, even with the boneheaded mistakes he makes some times. Even Chauncey admitted that he's fine for now because he more than makes up for them for them with his hard play. He and Nance have this infectious energy about them. Makes everyone else play harder.

Also, having a 6'5 dude with 7'2 wingspan allows for a lot flexibility to switch on defense. He has to be on the court.

Yeah for whatever reason CJ starts games off slow. When he starts off fast he has a huge night. (i.e the 28 point 1st Qtr against the Bulls in 2018)
But as a general rule, he tends to miss his first couple of shots every game. So you might as well try bringing him off the bench. I mean Little can do that.

But even though I said from day 1 of the trade that we should start Nance with Nurk, I am wondering now if Nurk would hinder what Nance does best.
It might take an adjustment period but I still think they should try. However, my first guess is to try it with Dame, CJ, and NP. Bring Little in early for CJ though.

LOL...yeah, right.

if we're talking half-time adjustments you'd certainly think 2nd half scoring margins, season --> season, Stotts --> Billups, are germane to the discussion. You know, adjustments --> result

by the way, after last night's game Portland's 2nd half scoring margin this season went up to +1.3 from +0.1. But of course, that had nothing to do with adjustments; per your example that was just because of a couple of players "going off". Of course, that giant leap in differential is because there is still so much wild variance, game to game, because of limited sample sizes

as an example, Portland's defensive rating in last night's game dropped them from 24th to 26th

Charlotte had a rating of 93.6 so they jumped from 26 to 24. Orlando had a rating of 100.2 so they improved. Portland fell slightly with a rating of 112.6. After the all-star break, ratings and rankings won't shift much from a single game and you'll get a better handle on where a team is...including on 2nd half point differentials
You’re talking about good adjustments. Billups can make adjustments without good results. At least he’s trying. Could help long term. As I said, Stotts teams could play better without adjustments because of Dame. No adjustments doesn’t mean no improvement in 2nd half.

what I'm saying is that there are actually stats that can correlate to half-time adjustments and those stats do not support the notion that Billups is a genius at adjustments while Stotts was an idiot robot

is the correlation 100% proof? no. But other than bias or conjecture, it's what we've got

by the way, last night, in 1st half Dame had 6 points on 6 shots. In 2nd half, 16 points on 12 shots; 5 assists, 3 turnovers 1st half; 5 assists 1 turnover 2nd half...so Billups got a Dame bump too; half of the 20 point differential

his value is bottom barrel at the moment, mostly due to his contract. no one is giving up value for a pending FA. and i think his defense is too valuable for us to sell low. need to see if we can cheer him up a bit. the petulance is frustrating but it's who he is. not gonna change that.

You guys really missed the "iso" part? "When we missing shots, we come back to old stuff, lot of iso plays."
He is obviously not happy in his role, but he seems to be more unhappy with hero ball nightmares flashbacks.
I remember how under Stotts CJ talked openly about himself not listening to the coach and going for hero mode.
As he said, he may not like his role, but he tries to be professional. I imagine, he can be really pissed, when he see his teammates breaking plays with selfish iso.

Season ticket holders are getting their money's worth. Lots of fun impressive wins at home. If Bulls had won tonight, they would've moved to 1st place in the East.
We're great at making season ticket holders watching the game happy, both at home and on the road :)

And

"We didn't depend on shot making to win this game... I was proud of that." Billups said.

It is nothing that Stotts would ever say and it is not what heroballers think.
So... I hope GM is talking with Billups about trade. Not everybody in this roster are on the same page as coach is. His idea of playing hard seem to work, so I hope GM will buy into him and make trade that Billups needs.

The energy that Nance and Little bring is infectious, not only to the other players, but to the home crowd which might be part of the explanation of why the team plays much better at home.

Billup's quote right there is exactly opposite of Stotts. How many games over the years did he roll out the 'We didn't make our shots" excuse?

Billups is slowly making progress breaking down the old habits.

Head coach Chauncey Billups has been experimenting with more time for Larry Nance Jr., and the Blazers' net rating was a whopping 22 points better per 100 possessions with him on the floor in the past four games.

With how shitty Roco has been playing, Nance has really stepped it up.

Did anyone say Billups is a genius at adjustments? Who are you arguing with?

bringing tears of joy to my eyes. If NO goes, he gets credit for Billups.
Only fair.

Large portion of the fan base is so against olshey it’s infested them into actually rooting against the team. Same thing on Twitter.
Almost as bad as last year, ALMOST.

If the Blazers could bottle up that 2nd Half and make that the way they play every game, they'd make noise in the playoffs.
IF this team makes the playoffs the only noise you’ll hear is a 4-0 thumping.

I'm not really seeing a good argument for starting Roco over Nance, other than potential chemistry problems with the demotion.

He played and hit 4 free throws.

Man are very emotional and dramatic. You're just sexist. And kind of dramatic.

CJ hit some big shots and made some productive passes in the 4th quarter.

Those stats don't say whether adjustments were made or not last season. You can make zero adjustments and just play better because Dame goes off.

We had lots of collective fight in games last season too. And the year before that, etc.

yeah no we didn’t I watch every game
