All jokes aside....the Rangers are not playing very well right now but, there doesn't seem to be any real adjustments being made by the coaching staff. The Rangers PP is in the bottom 3rd in the league this year and has become stale/predictable. There is no downside to changing things up AT LEAST on the PP.
Igor is regressing to the norm pretty quickly too. I'd be fine with the Rangers actually playing a more defensive oriented game for a while to support him a little better. Let the opposing teams make mistakes and try put pressure on in transition.

Playing on the PP doesn’t mean that they won’t miss chances. You have an undying love to bash every single coach we have. Do I like GG? No. Do I think he’s on the hot seat? No but not because he shouldn’t be. Rather because this team just went to the ECF and he’ll have that excuse for this whole year and part of next before he’s fired. You prop up EVERY prospect we have as if they are the next Wayne Gretzky and then when they don’t pan out it’s ALWYAS on the coaches. Maybe, just maybe, you are as clueless as most people are on how players will transition their game to the NHL, especially when they come from leagues where they were never challenged. This isn’t like college football where there’s one place that guys are mostly drafted from (and yet, prospects still flame out in the NFL at an incredibly high rate). The issue with the Rangers this year is very VERY simple. We were in a rebuild that rebuilt too quickly last year. Due to that success, Drury (and you can see Dolan’s fingerprints all over this team too) decided to skip rebuilding and go all in on a team that had major holes on the defense and even strength and paid no mind to the issues that plagued us all year long. This team played WAY above their heads last year. Regression was to be expected this year, but instead of trying to get pieces to minimize the regression Drury screwed the pooch and within the next three years we will be in yet ANOTHER rebuild.
You can put me on block or ignore or whatever you want Dumpy, but the fact of the matter is you are just as clueless as most fans. You throw all this shit about prospects against the wall hoping that something will stick and that you’ll be correct, yet you very rarely are. Dylan McIlrath ring a bell?

That's because deep down he wishes he could be a Devils fan. A team that is actually forced to foster prospects as opposed to buying mid to late career vets. Let's face it, NYR has to be one of the worst player development teams in the NHL.

Now, it looks like they have quit on this coach with a lot of other players and rightly so. Gallant hasn’t held Panarin accountable since he’s been here. Zibanejad either. Kreider one or two times. Honestly, with the strength of this draft, they should take a step back, tank this season and ask Panarin and Kreider to wave their moronic NMC’s or basically be told that their icetime will greatly decrease. With regards to the vets, 100% agree. They do not score at even strength, they also do not shoot enough, they don't bring it every game. That is a joke, and they need to be held accountable by this coach.

Joe said something during the game last night that was mind-blowing to me. He said you can tell this coach (Gallant) has just about run out of patience with the PP and guys staying on too long. I was blown away because isn't he the F'ing coach? If guys are staying on too long tell them to GET THE F OFF THE ICE. It's like he's a 3rd party with no accountability for what is happening. Put the lack of shooting by Fox and Panarin in there as well. Take them OFF THE PP. Sit them down. Do f'ing something Gallant. It is pissing me off now.

There is a difference between I want to stay calm and not make panic moves, and sitting by watching the same thing game after game and doing NOTHING. The guy has made ZERO changes (outside of a minor line tweak here and there). The PP has become so f'ing predictable, guys don't shoot, stay on too long, how about mixing it up. At even strength, when guys don't bring it, or refuse to shoot BENCH THEM for a bit. Mix it up. Do SOMETHING Gallant.

I never liked the Gallant hiring, and I was wrong last season when he took them to the ECF, but this season we are seeing his issues. When a coach is called a players coach it usually doesn't work well over time. That's code for not being tough enough, and sucking off the players. AV was a players coach also. We need a fair coach. Not a players coach, not a tough hard a** all the time (see Torts). Someone who goes both ways, and Gallant simply does not.

I don't see how Drury goes much longer without doing something as the team fades into the abyss, and maybe the coach is the move. If it is he better hire someone tougher on the players than Gallant. Someone who will hold these guys accountable.

Of course it's on both, but they are probably very low on confidence right now as well as not developmentally ready to take the next step since they have been screwed over from day 1.

What is so frustrating is that we handled Fox perfectly. He came in as a 20/21yo and got top 4 minutes right away in his first season (almost 19 per game) then starting with his 2nd second season he became our top defender getting almost 25m per game. THAT is how you commit to a high potential player. For some reason, we don't do the same up front.

The same dead horse can keep getting beaten. The bottom line is that Kakko and Lafreniere have been complete busts compared to expectations. Fox showed something from day one. I've seen very little from either of these two in any aspect of their game to get excited about. You can toss Chytil in thar mix as well since it appears his playoff surge was a brief outlier.

I could show you 50 highlights of great plays Fox has made in his short career, Kakko and Laf? Also the Rangers had zero talent on defense which gave Fox the opportunity and he seized it. I was down on Kravstov for going to play in Russia but to his credit he came back and is outplaying the can't do no wrong duo.

There were times Laf was compared to Crosby before the draft. Kakko was supposed to be this nhl ready player without any weaknesses who would make a big impact right away according to the scouts. When have the rangers ever committed to young players development? This is not Columbus or Carolina. They have no clue what they’re doing 80% of time. Chytil is a prime example. Instead of giving him a second line role and major pp minutes they go out and sign a vet Trocheck for 7 fucking years.
