No, he really didn't. In the rare instance he was off the ball, it was because the Blazers weren't in a set and it dissolved into C.J. trying to bail the team out of nothing.

C.J. had 25ppg on a 61 TS%, so C.J. didn't get "stuffed", and he most definitely wasn't the problem because he was always having to bail the Blazers out of a "nothing" offense and actually did a good job of it.
There you go with your Stats. If you think that back court didn't get stuffed you didn't watch the same series as i did.[/QUOTE]
Hahahaha. Dame got stuffed because he was consistently running into a Holiday/Davis trap 30 feet away from the rim because Stotts kept running ball screens near halfcourt.

That argument against C.J. is... I don't even know what to say.

Go ahead and try to make excuses for Aminu. That's fine also. The dude is the weakest link in the offense. Without question.
Yet he wasn't during that series. Put Mirotic in Aminu's spot and Mirotic likely produces the same result, because Aminu shot great even for a great shooter.

So how can it be Aminu that lost us that series? You'll blame anyone else before you blame Stotts, even if they played great.

How is stating facts making excuses for Aminu? He played great. Sounds to me like you're making excuses for Stotts.

Never before have I heard the argument of "Letting someone play great is how you beat a team".

So why didn't that same trap work this year? Please tell me why? Oh maybe it was because Davis wasn't playing? Oh boy. There we go with the talent thing again> It's me that doesn't know what to say now????

Yeah, that's why it didn't work. But when they have Davis, why would we play to their strength? Because that's what we did.

So you are telling me you have never said Westbrook will shoot them out of a game? It's what teams do to the Blazers game after game with Aminu and harkless and Turner.

Westbrook is a much worse shooter than Aminu, and much more lethal in other areas.

Aminu had one hot game that elevated his stats. This isn't even about Stotts anymore. This is about a team that lacks talent. Aminu is a great guy but this team needs more than that.

So he is a talented player. Because Aminu isn't lethal anywhere. But i will give him props. he is much improved on a bunch of things he does this year.

Meyers Leonard is a good three point shooter. There is even a guy that feels he should be shooting more. But those of us who know understand that less time with Meyers on the court is better. If the Blazers had a better option then Aminu they would be playing him. But they don’t. That is what I mean by lack of talent.

Let me ask you a question: When has Stotts tried something different other than Aminu at the PF late in games? You can't call it a lack of talent if the coach literally refuses to try a different option.

I can agree with that. And they might find a better option if they tried it. But lets give Aminu a little credit also. Tonight he made up for absolutely no offense in the fourth quarter with some pretty good defense.

I think we can agree Collins is a key part to whether this team can make a jump or not right? One of the reasons for getting rid of Ed was to throw Collins to the wolves and let him sink or swim right? Why not take that a step further and let him close out some games at the 4? Let him take his lumps so he's ready for the stretch run and playoffs!

well, the rope-a-dope did work once, but if you aren't as talented as Muhammed Ali you will probably get the shit beat out of you

You got no argument out of me on that. Really this season as far as i'm concerned is purely about entertainment. I'm all in for some big changes.

Teams use it all the time. Not sure how someone as educated on basketball as Bones says he is doesn't just admit that it happens. Teams guard players and let the least of two evils try to beat ya.

And if the lesser of two evils plays great and we still lose, there's a problem elsewhere.

The easy way out is saying that we can't handle traps because of Aminu, no matter how good he plays.

Why can teams like Utah, OKC, and Mempgis handle it then? They don't have anyone better than Aminu at the 4 spot.

Also, if Aminu sucks so bad at relieving pressure, then why play right into the hands of a trap?

I don't expect a legitimate answer.
