HEAD COACH TERRY STOTTS
“Really proud of our team. Obviously the guys that came off the bench really played well in the second – well the first half and second half. I thought it was an entertaining game, neither team really could get any stops in the first half, but the fact that it got a little chippy in the second half, it was a good game.”
What did you think of Collins defensively, particularly the block and taking an offensive foul?
“Zach’s plays, I thought, were a turning point – particularly the one where he either gets the ball stripped or blocked and then runs down to the other end and makes the block. I thought that was kind of a turning point for us because the game was going either way and if they score there, it’s a big turnaround. So that play was big and then he made other effort plays, emotional plays that fired up the team and the crowd.”
On only four turnovers:
“We said when you play Golden State, you have to play good offense. You do your best defensively but you know that they’re always dangerous at the offensive end. But your offense can’t fuel that. You’ve got to take good shots, make good decisions, not have turnovers fuel their transition, things like that. We did that tonight.”
You didn’t bring four of the starters in during the fourth, is that how it’s going to be – riding with certain guys?
“Yeah, it’s going to be a transition, but we’ve got a lot of good players who are able to contribute to winning. Obviously, the bench guys played well. I thought the starters played well, I was prepared to come back. I thought Moe and Chief did a good job when they were in there, set the tone defensively, but just wanted to ride the momentum and the guys out there deserved to finish it off.”
Is that just a feel thing in-game?
“Yeah, you know with five or six minutes to go in the game, I’m trying to figure out what I’m going to do to finish the game, but the guys on the floor answered it for me.”
How much of your time over All Star will be trying to figure out the rotation and what do you view Kanter’s role as?
“He’s our backup five. As far as the rotation, that should be pretty seamless. He’ll get the backup five minutes. He’s a proven NBA player. He can score, he can rebound. He’s played in big games. So it shouldn’t be too difficult.”
