I kind of like when they play Mario and let him bring the ball up and let the guards play off him. Taking a little pressure off Dame and letting him run off screens with out the ball is a good plan. Does he make bad passes on occasion yes, but so does Dame. I think it also gets Mario into the flow of the game better because he is not a spot up shooter. I hope they continue letting him run the point off and on through out the games.

good post, Ive always thought his strength was pushing it up court and creating for others. And once in a while he goes right to the hoop.

Most of the guys getting paid more are wings, Porter, Wiggins, Barnes, etc all have the added bonus even if they aren't great defenders that they can switch and defend 3 (at least positions) if they need too. The Blazers are paying 2 guys who cannot really switch much a huge amount of money and Dame is a superstar so he should get that money, and it makes sense to pay one... Heck if the Blazers didn't have Dame then the contract for CJ would make a lot more sense IMO. It's a wing's league and because of how much were paying our guards we can't really afford the type of players to go around them that we need. I realize they made the WCF's last year, and injuries this year and all that, but look at almost all the teams competing for championships the last few years they have at least one "upper tier" forward, the Blazers can't really afford that anymore. They have to hope they get one in the draft.

I disagree on it's a wings league. It has now become a shooters league. That includes guards and even big men.

kind of funny because that was the original plan until Stotts gave up on it as soon as mario made a couple of mistakes. Not saying Mario is anything special or that he should even be playing, but Stotts has a habit of stunting his own players growth and it pisses me off.

But yet he has a reputation for rejuvenating players! He's known as a players coach...

You make the playoffs and you get the 17th pick or you don't make the playoffs and you get about the 14th pick. After the 4th pick, it's all chance who falls and who can tell if a player is good. If you could promise we'd get the 8th pick in the draft, fine don't make the playoffs. But our record is better than every non playoff team in the East. So just make the playoffs

That one makes more sense than Biggie/Wenyen because at least Mario has played relatively well lately. But yes Little should be playing over him regardless.

So personal opinion here, Biggie isnt good.... Wenyen / Little / and Mario there are plenty of back up minutes they should get Cut back Ariza / Melo’s minutes.

The only problem with that is once we start going to our bench we typically lose a lead or the deficit gets bigger. Playing them more minutes will likely end up with even worse results. Main issue is that we have 3 starters out which means 3 bench players are starting. Imagine what a bench of Whitreside, Melo, Ariza, Trent and either McCollum or Lillard would be like.

You would rather fold up and quit? The players, especially Lillard don't.

I absolutely understand the injury issues and I've said before our bench would actually be good when healthy. My opinion is though we can mix and match line ups better to redistribute minutes so that young guys develope, and the guys we really need in the playoffs (if we got there) would have less wear and tear on them throughout the season. Kind of the SAS way, now obviously are bench is end of the rotation guys for a reason just think we would be better off overall not killing Ariza and Melo.

The mind is a terrible thing to waste. Look for more productive things in life than trying to be someone you aren't. Develope your own identity. :bgrin:

Well it's likely a moot point now anyway, but this roster has very little margin for error until we get some players back healthy. As you have seen it pretty much takes all 5 starters to have a solid game in order for us to win as we get very little production from the bench.

Yeah, I have said I think they don't have a ton of talent left right now. I think that's the biggest culprit for their woes this year, but you're right it kinda doesn't matter at this point, though basketball will be back at some point.
