Game Ball: Vince Carter.
Lame Ball: Lawrence Frank using Hassell instead of CDR.

It's preseason, everyone gets a shot. CDR got his last game.

I want to give Brook his respects for his defense. When he wasn't getting blocks his long reach was affecting shots and he did a good job being in the right place in the team schemes to help force turnovers in the first half. There was also a possession in the first half when Brook found himself defending a guard on the perimeter but he was able to lock him down and force him to pass instead of driving by him. Impressive.

Yi's shooting was amazing, but you can see he's so much more than a jumpshooter. I also liked how he wasn't afraid to get scrappy on defense.

Ager picked it up in the second half. I still think he's got to fight to stay on the team.

A guy who really impressed me was Brian Hamilton. His defense came as advertised, and I loved his hustle. If we're talking about the guard rotation I think he had a much better game than Hodge, who really just brought the ball up (even soiled that once with a charge call) and didn't have too much of an impact anywhere else.

Vince is going to be our MVP most games, obviously, but I want to recognize Yi in this one. Terrific shooting display, nice defensive job at the end of the game, and he had that one beautiful move were he drove and spun into the lane and hit a soft turnaround. He also went hard to the rim for two handed dunk attempts twice, albeit he was blocked both times, LOL. I like that he didn't let the first block stop a second try, although he clearly is not strong in the air.

It's clear that this trade was not just a salary dump. Kiki has seen the kind of shooting and athleticism in workouts and practices that we saw today and thinks that, with the right teammates and coach, this kid can be great. We will have to wait to see if he's right, but that trade was FOR Yi, not just to get rid of salary.

Agreed. Of the fringe players, he definitely was the most impressive today.

I wonder how Dooling, Hayes and Najera will do on a Nets uniform.. and where they fit?

Can we expect this line-up on opening night?

Harris/Dooling/Gill
VC/CDR/Ager/
Simmons/Hayes/Anderson
Yi/Swat/Najera
Brook/Boone/Swift

Hamilton, Hassell and Hodge being the odd men out.
Also who would you rather play? Ager or Hamilton?

The only thing i would change is I'd start Hayes instead of Simmons.

Thats what i see the depth charts looking like also, however i think CDR is eventually gonna work his way and play the 2 or the 3 depending on where vince is later in the season. Even tho he didnt do much do to minutes, CDR looked like the most complete and fluent of the wing players on bother ends with the exception of obviously vince.

That would be exciting.
Harris
CDR
VC
Yi
Lopez.

using CDR, Hayes, Dooling, Boone, and Sean/Anderson off the bench would be highly effective, too.
man, I'm excited

I thought the charge on Hodge was bullshit, but he is still learning how to be a PG. If that is how they would use him, Gill would do a better job . . .and as a wing, Ager was more impressive.

I would give Devin Harris the lame ball. Sometimes he is just too careless, and while it certainly helps to have a PG that will drive or just take a pullup jumper, he has to pick his spots better.

again, a couple of players will be hurt between now and then.

Gill and Ager cannot both be on the team, unless the Nets rid themselves of Hassell or Swift somehow.

I'm still not so sure about Ager. I think he has potential, but at the same time, I see him as a D-Leaguer.

As Dumpy said, there can always be injuries so i think the lineups can always change. For the most part though, i think that will be our lineup starting the season.
