Gauging CJ's value

Perhaps it should tell you "it's easier for a scrub to have a good TS% than a high-usage starter"?

are you implying patty mills is a scrub? PatC who was a good contributor to a championship last year a scrub?

Seth curry who is philis best shooter a scrub?

can you please expand? Becuase im not numbers guy and so maybe im missing something with ts%
Otherwise i dont think they are scrubs at all.
Djj is a scrub. Meyers is a scrub.

in short, are you implying that those guys would be end of benchers for us(typically a scrubs position)

Lastly where did the word scrubs come from? I find it interesting cause i think of scrub to scrub something clean and would think it should mean high quality something or other. Lol.

wings...guards...perimeter players...what difference does it make?

I guess if you just wanted to eliminate enough players that CJ doesn't look so bad compared to those that remain...you might gripe about a more conclusive list. CJ ranks 262 out of 444 in TS% by the way, so I eliminated 354 players from the comparison....about 80% of the league and still you complain
I was merely noting that you and I have different definitions of "starting shooting guards". But it's a positionless league these days, I guess.

There is a reason most statistics have a disclaimer like “minimum 10 shots per game” or “attempted at least 100 3s” or shit like that.

But, I don’t agree with the “scrub” notion.

It’s certainly easier to have a higher TS% on lower volume.

But not all those players above CJ are much lower volume wise.

Also a bit easier to have a decent TS% when you’re camped out in the corner getting wide open shots all game vs. creating for yourself.

A good example would’ve been how in some contracts they have shoot 40% on 3 with minimum 100 attempts in order to trigger your bonus.

Let's pick on Bradley Beal. Why is he seen as such a big deal? He's never been a good defender and he's notoriously not much of a three-point shooter. But he's perpetually mentioned as the other guy Morey is drooling over besides Dame. If he's All That, surely CJ is close to being so.

If I were the Wizards, I would JUMP at Beal-for-Simmons. Trouble is, just as with Dame, there's this narrative that Beal has been super loyal and needs to be rewarded. Well I say: he's BEEN rewarded with a fucking large contract. Here, take another reward: playing with Joel Embiid on a real contender.

Here's hoping against hope that the Wiz don't think Simmons would be a good fit (with Dinwiddie and all) and would prefer... CJ!!! As good as Beal but a lot cheaper, and not a crazy anti-vaxxer.

I don't want Beal for CJ. Sure that would be an obvious upgrade but Beal is still a smallish ball dominant guard who is a poor defender. We don't need that shit.
