I love George Karl. I wanted him hard over the summer but very happy with Stotts now. His style of play is so fun to watch and would be a really nice fit with this team. Denver was foolish to let him go

It's interesting. He says Oklahoma has the mental edge. I don't believe they have it on Portland. As a matter of fact, if I had to guess. I believe Portland has that part won in just there three matchups this year.

This might be your most positive post yet. :) Repped!

I think the future has the potential to be bright. I think we ALL agree that the defense needs work and the bench needs help (still).

And they still have the 4th or 5th best record in the league. Add 1 decent bench player (assuming they retain Mo) and work slightly on defense, and it could be a top 3 team.

He already said he's opting out years end.

On his take developing the bench:

I think it's to be discouraged with where the bench is at. I personally think there is talent there on the bench. For whatever reasoon he is not tapping into it and probably because there has been a heavy reliance on his starters to keep up the winning performance. There have been moments this season in which he has tried to develop the bench or at least get them some more time. Obviously the moment that sticks out the most was the game in Dallas. He gave them the entire 4th quarter. And they were horrible. I think he has tried to develop them. But has come with great unsuccess. At some point, players like CJ, Meyers and TRob have to say to themselves. It's time for me to become a stronger more consistent contributor. Really it's on them. They have to be the ones to make the change. Talent wise they have it. Talent wise Dorrell Wright has it. They have players. They just aren't putting out. Just as the team needs change in mindset defensively. CJ, TRob, Meyers and Dorrell all need a change in mindset on how they effect the game.

Karl: I'd like to see them develop their bench a little more. Coach (Terry) Stotts is comfortable with the starters getting a lot of minutes, but you'd love to be able to give them more rest.

I could be wrong, but I thought I read somewhere he was opting out in order to sign a longer and better deal with us. I thought he likes Portland and wants to stay here.

idk but this article kind of says both things. I can see where the confusion is coming from.

Portland Trail Blazers guard Mo Williams tells CSNNW.com he will opt out of his deal with the team at the conclusion of the season and become an unrestricted free agent this summer.
...
“I would like to be here long-term,” Williams revealed to CSNNW.com. “My goal is to work something out with Portland this summer. I like it here and I want to make this place home.”
