I think Prince Valiant has flaws. The Cubs knew this at the time, and I don't think it had anything to do with his experience.
I don't know much about the Cubs but they seem to have a decent farm and if he could somehow get them a WS win he would become a legendary manager, which is a good challenge, hell if he just got them to the big show it would be huge, and they have great fans, and they would pay him well, and it's his hometown... so there is some big incentives there.
And considering this Arod thing, and the crappy farm in NY, and Mo leaving, and the WS win under his belt here.. the more I think about it what reason does he have to stay? if the Cubs offer the money they may have him IMO.
"“Our home has been here (in Westchester),” Girardi said. “My kids are engrossed in schools here. We haven’t (lived in) Chicago since 2006. The only person who’s really there, my brother’s still there, a couple brothers are there, (but) my father’s gone, my mother’s gone. There’s not as much there as there used to be.”
