Responsible for both goals in this game and AV continues to put this schmuck out there. Not to mention the 50 IQ of our forwards who haven't realized the Penguins drop everytime to one knee to block a shot. Try a fake you dumb fucks.

How many fucking times can these rejects let goals up in the last minute of periods. Amateur hour with this piece of shit team.

I'd say Girardi has to go but what team watching him would want anything to do with him and his salary?

Rick Dipietro is funny, he said Girard takes his no trade clause literally, he doesn't move. lol. That's funny. This series is over, we are done. I just hoped Lundqvist was in net because now AV has the excuse. By the way if you listen to the radio they are saying same thing most of us saying. AV doesn't adjust to in the playoffs, Stall and Girard are playing too slow, refusal to play McIlarth and etc....

I just hope AV is gone soon. He will kill this team the way he killed Vancouver.

Sounds like from twitter noises AV may finally be ready to put dylan in there for the woefully inadequate girardi

If McIlrath plays and Girardi is scratched I will be SHOCKED. Only way I see it happening is AV comes out and says Girardi is hurt so that's why he made the change. Otherwise I just cannot see it happening, even if it is the right move.

I said yesterday when McD plays I would scratch G for him not Skjei.

“I thought for the most part, I liked Marc,” Vigneault said. “I thought he tried to make the plays that were there. Danny, this was his first game back, you have to understand. He only had one full practice. We all know that he’s been in many battles with this team before. So we’ll give him [Thursday] to recover and have good practice [Friday] and go from there.”

AV is considering lineup changes (McIlrath). Says MStaal played better than Girardi. Says some of Girardi’s rough game b/c of rust.

Girardi has sucked all season when healthy or not. Dylan should have been in for him a long time ago but for AV's blind veteran loyalty.

I have a feeling we are going to look back at this core with this thinking:

1. If not for Rick Nash having a horrific post season in 2014 we might well have a cup
2. If not for a 40 year Marty St Louis suddenly turning 50 years old and injuries to Zuc and McD in 2015 we might well have a cup
3. If not for DRAMATIC falloff by both Girardi and Staal this team might well have a cup

Nobody could predict any of the above based on recent success. Nash is a shell of himself in playoffs. St Louis was 2 years removed from a 90 pt season and turned into a useless offensive player literally overnight. And Girardi and Staal had all the miles catch up to them very quickly and have totally exposed this team.

I am holding out hope for sudden unlikely changes in the teams play but it doesn't look good.

Lets Go Rangers

AV was giving Girardi, who I believe is the franchise record holder for most playoff games played, the benefit of the doubt to see if once the playoffs started and the game gets tougher he would return to form. I had no issue playing Girardi through the regular season (although he could have used a rest day here and there for sure) and giving him the first crack at the playoffs. But Wednesday night showed the guy is done. He has no legs and the game (and the system) is too fast for him. Marc Staal can get by because he's a better athlete than Girardi is, and has a much longer reach which allows him to give up more room. Girardi got by purely on toughness and hard work. Unfortunately that isn't good enough anymore, and it's time for him to take a seat for McIlrath. However, I'm not sure AV is going to do that with McDonagh still out and I can see that argument. The counter, of course, is that if something doesnt change we may be out before McDonagh even has a chance to come back. If it's me, after what I saw on Wednesday, McIlrath is in for sure.

I would not be surprised that this dude
has been playing with holes in his knees;
and yet, he plays badly.

Blame the coach and GM for being
inflexible.

Andrew Gross (twitter): Don't see Dan Girardi on ice for practice. No Ryan McDonagh (right hand) either

Hmmmmm.

AV was just saying yesterday G is "rusty" and only had one prac. Now he's not practicing again? So he's going to remain rusty AND appears to be banged up. Come on AV, don't be stubborn about this.

Makes me think they will say injury to Girardi. That's the only way he gets scratched IMO.

Yup, probably. But it's all the same in the end. It's the right move. They pretty much could have said "injury" at any point this year.

Girardi has been a warrior but you can no longer allow what happened in game one to happen again. He was cringe worthy out there and showed all the signs of a player that needs to be shut down.

Alain Vigneault announced that Girardi will be OUT for Game 2. (Lavoie)

Asked if it was an upper or lower body injury for Girardi, Vigneault said that "it's the whole thing."

Girardi...OUT.

I think Malkin is back for game 3. Doubt he plays game 2. I think McDonagh will be back game 3 or 4.

Granted that "it's the whole thing" quote gave me a chuckle. But I truly feel bad for the guy. The "internet" fans (twitter, advanced stats nerd, message boards, etc.) have been absolutely brutal to the guy. Almost like they have a personal vendetta at times. It's very frustrating for an athlete when his body starts to betray him, especially so when it happens before it's supposed to. Girardi is 31 but he might as well be 51 because of the way he plays. We saw it with Drury as well. Guys who should in theory still have a few years left just falling off a cliff because they only know one way to play, and their bodies can't keep up. 4 years ago he was getting Norris votes (finished 6th believe it or not). Fast forward to now and he can hardly skate.

Let's also not forget the guy had major surgery in July. I could probably count on two hands the times he was able to skate before camp opened because of that. His body was just not ready for this season, point blank.

The best thing for him would be to shut it down, rest, get back in game shape and rehab his knee. If any of the right side guys go down on D he can play 3rd pair because I think he can still probably give us 15 decent minutes a night playing against lower lines. Obviously not ideal for his contract but for now it is what it is.

As of right now, he's not an NHL player. Pains me to say it because I love the guy and appreciate all he has given this franchise over the past 10+ years. And I'd really like to see him raise the cup. But that's simply not gonna happen if he's playing first pair minutes.

Big Mac IN for Girardi. And sounds like he's reuniting Yandle-Dylan as the 2nd pair. The "whole thing" is a nice way of AV saying to girardi its time to retire. Long overdue but as they say better late than never.

Getting very ahead of myself here as we have a cup to win, but I wonder if his knee injury qualifies him for LTIR? Could be a Pronger-type situation, no? He has to see the writing on the wall at this point. He still gets paid, saves face instead of becoming a regular scratch, and preserves what's left of his health. I could see him accepting that scenario before waiving his NTC. He's a proud player, he knows he isnt able to give it his all. No use going to a new franchise.

If it wasn't Mcilslow subbing for him I'd be more elated.
