I kind of like it for both teams though. Korver wasnt doing anything in Philly and Utah desperately needs a shooter.

EDIT: Utah also gave up a 1st rounder, good for Ski.

If his perceived worth when Thorn made that deal was a first round pick, why was it that Thorn was able to draft him in the second round with the 51st overall pick?

It was only a matter of time til Giricek got moved, but I'm kind of surprised.

I like the trade. Jazz get a shooter, Sixers get some more cap room to work with and another draft pick.

It very well could be a big deal...for Nets fans. It certainly was a good deal for the Sixers.

1. Stefanski has just gotten rid of $15.4 million over three years, permitting him more room to sign free agents, starting next year...and get some money for Igoudala.

2. Stefanski also gets a low first round pick. Sixers blew it with their four picks this year--one reason King was fired. He can use those in a sign and trade for a free agent or keep rebuilding through the draft. (Doesn't matter much for Utah...guess who has the Knicks pick in 2009?)

As for Korver's Nets career, they sold him for the incredibly paltry price of $125,000. Stefanski told season ticket holders last year that the Nets dumped him because "we didnt have a roster space"...weak.

Giricek is just as good as Korver, a little older but a lot cheaper.

His perceived value now isn't a first round pick. Ed took advantage of team desperate to trade a player.

Good point. Thaddeus Young may now get some minutes. Article doesn't say when the first rounder can be used or if there are any protections. But if it's this year, that means that only Seattle and Philly will have two first round picks. Enviable position in a top heavy draft where you want to trade up.

The news feed on S2 says that it is a protect pick, but not what the protection is.

My guess is just lottery protection since the Jazz are currently sitting in the lottery

I don't think King blew it with Thaddeus Young and Jason Smith. They had a good draft.

It was time for King to go. Learning on the job is an occupational hazard.
