Amen. Now the question: do I buy a Friday plane ticket to Dallas? Would probably be cheaper if I bought it now.
Look. I get it, Blazers fans. You've been traumatized by this franchise. It's been an abusive relationship at times. You've been teased, and suckered, even as you look up and down this roster and, logically, understand that the current roster of players had nothing to do with the letdowns of the past, it all begins to run together.
You're Charlie Brown. The Blazers are Lucy, holding that blasted football.
Your heart, as a fan, doesn't understand time. It can't separate a blown lead from a decade ago from a day ago. You float from Mychal Thompson to Kiki Vandeweghe to Clyde Drexler to Rasheed Wallace to Zach Randolph to Roy and Aldridge and wonder, "Will this ever really change?"
You see, after watching a Game 4 collapse for the ages in Portland yesterday, it became clear once again; this team and everyone surrounding this team (yes, you the fans) drags so much emotional baggage behind them that it isn't even funny. And just when you think that Lucy is not going to pull the ball away from Charlie Brown...she does it again.
I'm not so sure about this. I think this game psychologically mindfucked the Blazers worse than Game 4 mindfucked the Mavs. Dallas could have won either game at the Rose Garden if not for lucky bounces and heroic efforts. The Blazers really haven't threatened the Mavericks in Dallas. The Mavs stealing Game 6 against a mentally fragile Blazer team seems likely. Haven't we seen this movie? I mean really. When do Blazer teams ever get tough?
That's a fucking sad piece of blatant plagiarism on Canzano's part. He ought to be ashamed. But he probably isn't.
barfo
Portland will win Game 6. No worries there. But you're right. Dallas has owned us on their home court. They have to be the favorities in Game 7.Dallas could have won either game at the Rose Garden if not for lucky bounces and heroic efforts. The Blazers really haven't threatened the Mavericks in Dallas. The Mavs stealing Game 6 against a mentally fragile Blazer team seems likely.
So when Roy has a shitty game there is no need to talk about it, but when he mixes in 1 good game that's all we can talk about?
Couldn't agree more....
Although he wasn't the only one....
LaMarcus had a horrible game again.
Where is the guy who put together multiple 30+ point games and was taking over down low in the paint? That LaMonster opened up the offense for all our shooters and they were getting wide open 3's off doubles. LaMarcus has still had solid moments this series but he doesn't look like an all-star snub he looks like a player worse then Kevin Love.
He has said on mulitple occasions that he is worn out.
Couldn't agree more....
Although he wasn't the only one....
Ah, there he is. Finally showing up after a loss to bitch some more about Roy? Still think he shouldn't have played in Games 3 and 4?
Well in all fairness Roy did play like shit, and he did include that other players were too. Regardless, this was a total team effort loss. The only player that actually showed up last night was Miller; which can't win games. Our effort defensively and offensively was a total joke. This was, by far, the worst team effort I've seen the Blazers play in the playoffs the last 3 years. It was seriously pathetic.
Some people, like you and me, show up win or lose. Others, like Blaze01, disappear after wins, and show up to complain/bash players after a loss.
I'll also add that Game 1 of the Houston series was the worst playoff game of the last 3 years.
The Blazers are a bunch of gutless losers except when they win. Then they're gutty winners.
I love Canzano's comparing it to an abusive relationship. Good analogy, completely appropriate. Blazers fans are alone in not seeing championships pour in year after year and experiencing playoff disappointments. The extreme and unusual trauma Blazers fans experience is pretty comparable to one person being physically or emotionally damaged by someone else.
I think the moment you start to lose perspective to the point that that sounds reasonable to you, you need to get away from watching sports, because it's warping your mind. Even if that means we lose Canzano and his insightful articles.
There are really no positives to take away from that debacle, and dwelling on negatives won't solve anything.
