This is a weird finals where both teams are very likable. First time I can remember this happening since probably 2005, also featuring the Spurs. That said, I do NOT want the Spurs to win. They can wait their turn. If Wemby doesn't threepeat at some point it's because he got injured, but this is probably the Knicks' only shot, and I can't think of a single Knick who is unlikable, and Josh Hart is one of my fave players in the league. (Ooh, and OG is BRITISH!)

I feel I owe KAT an apology (like he gives a shit, or even knows this board exists) because I always saw him as an empty calories, Shareef Abdur-Rahim kind of player. And for so long he's been eclipsed by a guy taken deep in the second round of the draft he was picked #1 in. Plus he's had some personal tragedy, so it's really nice to see him just kicking ass this postseason. His three point shooting is going to be important dragging Wemby out of the paint.

Another redemption story: Mike Brown. Why can't this guy stay anywhere? He won a title with the Cavs. He gave the Kings their only decent ("light the beam!") season since Mike Bibby played for them. He takes good teams to titles and bad teams to the playoffs - what's not to like. (Sidenote: have there been two non-white coaches in the finals before?)

Anyway: Go Knicks! Kick those kids around a bit. Apart from anything it would be hilarious if the stupid NBA Cup perfectly predicted the playoffs.

Knicks are screwed. Refs are in control.

Yikes. Ugly. Unless the Knicks find out a way to score this series is going to be over in a hurry.

[Update: they've found a way. It's called "Wemby goes to the bench"]

The Portland Trail Blazers may not be playing in the NBA Finals this summer, but they will have a say in the New York Knicks' path to basketball's biggest stage.

On Feb. 8, 2023, the Blazers traded Josh Hart to the Knicks for Cam Reddish, Ryan Arcidiacano, Svi Mykhailuk, and the number 23 overall pick in the 2023 NBA draft (which turned into Kris Murray). While Murray is still on the Blazers' roster and has a chance to further develop, it's safe to say that the Knicks have been the winners of this trade.
