Interesting! More Mathematicians believe in God than any other group but Biologist that do, are increasing.

As for the Mathematicians, perhaps they are more concerned with logical consistency, where the scientist worries about verifiability. Still the Biologist are increasing, more becoming aware of the limitations of their knowledge and (heaven forbid) the need for help! About 44.6% of the mathematicians affirm a belief in God. The most commonly known all seem to be there or were, AE, KG, Pascal, Newton, Galileo.
Interesting the attack on mathematical axioms by Betrand Russell.
"Pure mathematics consists entirely of assertions to the effect that, if such and such a proposition is true of anything, then such and such another proposition is true of that thing. It is essential not to discuss whether the first proposition is really true, and not to mention what the anything is, of which it is supposed to be true … If our hypothesis is about anything, and not about some one or more particular things, then our deductions constitute mathematics. Russell won a Nobel Prize for his work as Denny points out. But then his work was pretty much demolished by Gödel a renown mathematician that used of axioms. Russells logic sound very much like the logic Denny and Further used above. Russell does not appear in this list of famous Mathematicians, they do not give a Nobel prize for Mathematics.
