I say increase access to health insurance by allowing insurers to cross state lines, to trim the power of the state insurance commissions and to treat individuals like companies when it comes to the deductibility of health insurance.

I heard Ann Coulter discussing this on Lars show recently. Maybe I am just becoming more conservative with age, but this sounds like a good part of a solution to the health care crisis. I don't think that is a panacea, as some just can't get jobs with benefits, but health insurance costs are just becoming so damn expensive -- particularly for families. It's all you damn boomers. Die already!!

yeah, let's get rid of unemployment and welfare too! Fucking lazy people stealing money from the rich! Look, I was lucky enough to be born in a wealthy country, to wealthy parents, and by god I demand I better keep that thing I was lucky to get! Did he even consider that a large portion of those without healthcare is the 20 somethings? Last time I checked, the bill didn't have a mandated public healthcare, it is only about regulation. His comparison to the UK is misleading to say the least.

This thing about regulations at the end is a fucking joke! "waah I don't want to be energy efficient! I want to waste more money in the long term! I want to cause more pollution waaah!"

Here's something else I'd like to see in addition to your views...

In the auto insurance industry, drivers that are essentially uninsurable are portioned out to insurers and the rates are capped. Why not take people who meet some set of guidlines to qualify as "uninsured" and then assign them to health carriers to provide a certain level of basic coverage. The costs can be partially eaten by the insurerers (which in a highly competitive market will help keep costs down) and perhaps money can be skimmed from some pharmicuticals... to assist.
