As of right now there are 27,339 Starbucks worldwide. I'm guessing they aren't morons. As far as the police, there is a Starbucks in Rohnert Park CA near me where all the police hang out. At any given point in time you can find a half dozen cop cars parked and all of them sipping on some fresh brewed coffee. In fact, all the groups you list, the majority of which I'm sure will go to Starbucks sometime this month. They haven't alienated anyone but the biggest crackpots and people who like their coffee to actually taste good.

That is the public library though. Key word is public. If Starbucks wants to be the first public coffee shop it needs better coffee.
