...... Summer league doesn't mean shit and is no way to evaluate a player. We all know about the Qyntel situation and the Batum situation , but how about these other guys.......

Ike Diagu's 37 pts in his debut.....
Von Wafer's 42 in 26 minutes.....
Marco Belinelli scored 37 points in his summer league debut.
Anthony Randolph scored 47 points in a summer league game. Marcus Banks had 42.

The conventional wisdom seems to be that if you do well in SL it doesn't mean you'll do well in the League, however if you do poorly in SL you'll probably do poorly in the League.

Out of hundreds of players Batum seems to be the lone exception.

ML and Freeland are not doing well in SL.

Totally. I was at the Wafer game. He looked like an all-star. Guess not.

Man, I remember Von Wafer..and I remember after Portland dumped him and then Houston picked him up and he played good..people freaked out.

Hard to believe he's only 27, seemed like he played in Portland like 15 years ago.

This. I think playing consistently bad is more worrisome than playing good.

Every year the same thing, people put too much stock in both good and bad play in SL. At least wait for a few games before swearing off players.

I think it is all in how you do it. Olshey said the same thing in his interview and wanted the team to be practicing things that could translate to a regular season game.

Giving the ball to Bayless and letting play 1 on 5 = bad
Giving the ball to Lillard and letting him run a team = good

McCollum looked like a skilled player with a potential good first step in his first SL game. Other than that, can't tell much. Big men are usually at a disadvantage in summer league, making Olynyk's play pretty impressive.

Was Batum playing alongside Bayless? If so, he probably never saw the ball.

Legend has it that Tim Duncan was "dominated" by Greg Ostertag in their respective Summer League debuts.

Continuing in this vein...
Running the offense through Babbitt in the high post = bad
Running the offense through Barton = bad

Add force feeding the ball down low to Perdergraph that one summer as a bad idea as well. Coaches do like to experiement

Then again, Lillard was co-MVP last year and he went on to win ROY.......
