The Verdict

The Nexus 5 is in a league of its own. It may not have the longest battery life or fancy build materials, but it does have high-powered internals, a beautiful display, and, of course, a stock version of the fantastic Android 4.4 KitKat operating system—all for just $349 unlocked.

Is the new Nexus 5 the best phone on the market? Absolutely not, nor should you expect it to be. But in its price range, there is nothing that can even remotely compete with the latest from Google and LG. If you're concerned about how much your next smartphone will cost or if you'd rather not commit to another contract with your wireless provider, there is no better option.

8.7=Great
Google and LG's Nexus 5 isn't the best phone on the market, but it's the best phone you can buy for $349. RT

+Incredibly affordable price.
+Stock Android 4.4 KitKat.
+Blazing fast performance.
+Nexus software upgrade support.

– Disappointing battery life.
– Clumsy camera app.

It is really a great phone. I've only had it for a few days, so I haven't noticed any major battery issues. But, considering the LG G2, which the Nexus 5 is based off of, has a 50% larger battery, it's no surprise that it isn't the best. The camera seems to be really good. It's the stock camera app that isn't all that great. So, if anyone knows of a good 3rd party camera app, let me know.

I think the only other phones I'd want to try are the HTC One and Moto X. But at the price, it can't be beat.
