The test is required before any operation and my surgery is scheduled for 5:30 am Wednesday.

I had one done a few weeks ago as a precaution. Real easy, just drove up to the Walgreens drive through and did it myself. They actually want you to stick it pretty far up your nose and go around 5x in each nostril. It made my eyes water uncontrollably...

I didn't do the nose swab. I did a throat swab. A little unusual but not unheard of.
