Larry David was reportedly thrilled to get uninvited from Barack Obama's birthday party

Former President Barack Obama reportedly couldn't curb Larry David's enthusiasm when the comedian was cut from the guest list for Obama's somewhat controversial 60th birthday party on Martha's Vineyard last week.

David's apparent elation over getting uninvited mostly seemed to stem from the fact that he initially feared he was going to be expected to perform at the event, which was eventually scaled down because of concerns about the Delta coronavirus variant. In an email to The New York Times' Maureen Dowd, David said he was struggling to come up with a standup routine after Obama's assistant called him with the invite. "I was glum when I finally called back his assistant," David told Dowd.

But then things turnaround for the creator of Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm.

"When he told me I was eighty-sixed from the party, I was so relieved I screamed, 'Thank you! Thank you!' He must've though I was insane," David said. "Then I hung up the phone, poured myself a drink, and finished my crossword puzzle."

Never heard of him. Don't love him. Don't have to.

You've never heard of Barack Obama?

He was President for 8 years. One time he wore a tan suit. People freaked out. And now people seem to be giving a shit about his birthday party from like a week ago. But hey, it gives them a distraction from covid and anti-vaxxers being fuckwits.

I have heard of Barack Obama. It's this Larry David I am supposed to love I never heard of.

He's most famous for being a co-creator of Seinfeld, but he also had a solid show he starred in Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Larry David, I mean. Not Barack Obama.

I might understand someone from like Nigeria or Venezuela or something saying this but not someone from Berkeley or Oakland

I've met a surprising number of people who have never watched Seinfeld and have no particular interest. Not that it's weird to me that everyone doesn't like it, but the show seemed so ubiquitous in the '90s, it surprises me how many people never even saw an episode.

Some of us were busy during the '90s, what can I say. I never saw an episode until a couple of years ago.

I never found it funny, so I've probably watched maybe 1 seasons worth of episodes over the run. I watched the series finale, and thought it was dumb.

Season finale is quite possibly the worst episode in the 9 seasons. Need to watch seasons 4, 5, 6, and 7.

The series finale was the worst episode, but it also had a poetic ending that only made sense if you saw (and remembered) the first episode.

But yeah, the finale isn't very representative of the show.

I saw one episode of the show on a date.the overdue library book by Henry Miller episode..people here assume tv is part of everyone's lives...I never owned one..better things to do...I've watched more of those programs on netflix over the last decade but I didn't know anything about Seinfeld or Curb Your Enthusiasm...don't know much about Larry David either ...I saw him on Netflix comedians in cars getting coffee...never saw his standup comedy act either

It was a pretty funny show, but then I had lot's of time on my hands.

Well, you might as well pirate it now. You know, keep your hand in during retirement.
that's what he was doing in the 90s but pirates bury their stash and forget where they buried it...like squirrels..somewhere there's a burned collection of Cheers in a hole in the ground by a rock
