Laura Robson saw off Ghita Benhadi 6-1, 6-1 in Morocco on Tuesday
Great Britain's Laura Robson beat Moroccan Ghita Benhadi at the Grand Prix SAR La Princesse Lalla Meryem in Rabat to record a first WTA Tour victory since 2013.
The 22-year-old had endured a frustrating comeback from wrist surgery two years ago, winning just three matches all year in qualifying rounds.
However, Robson returned to form in the main draw on the clay against the local 18-year-old wild card, producing six service breaks as she came through 6-1, 6-1 in 51 minutes and will next meet Hungarian Timea Babos, the fifth seed, in round two.
No.2 seed Ekaterina Makarova grabbed the first win of her clay court campaign, advancing into the second round of the Grand Prix SAR La Princesse Lalla Meryem with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Alexandra Dulgheru.
Bacsinszky battles into Rabat quarter-finals, Marakova crashes out
Ekaterina Makarova lost to Serbian qualifier Aleksandra Krunic, while Timea Bacsinszky avoided a scare of her own against Kateryna Kozlova.
Timea Bacsinszky was forced to a third set by Kateryna Kozlova before booking her place in the Grand Prix de SAR La Princesse Lalla Meryem quarter-finals, but second seed Ekaterina Makarova crashed out.
World number 15 Bacsinszky saved six of seven break points to take the first set 6-3, but dropped serve three times in the second as Kozlova sent the match to a decider.
However, the top seed proved too much for the 117th ranked Kozlova, who succumbed to a 6-3 2-6 6-3 defeat in two hours and 22 minutes.
Switzerland's Bacsinszky came through 6-4 7-5 against Timea Babos, breaking serve six times and being broken on four occasions, and has lost just one set in the tournament.
