Grant High Til We Die

The soccer field was one of the worst I played on. I remember they would run steamroller over it once a year or so to try and keep it flat. But that is the upper field, not in the bowl.

I just sold a job near there yesterday. 35th & NE Ainsworth.

Thank You NEP!!

Nice^ Have lunch at McMinnamins Kennedy School

Were they G'ing when you guys went to school?

Screw Grant. It's all about the APOLLOS!

The interesting thing is...... I have no idea who or where the apollos even are.

Unless they have a very challenging site, (such as expansive clay soils, or steep ground requiring retaining walls) or they are doing a lot more than just a synthetic field, $1.9M is over-budgeted.

It's an interesting site. A track surrounding a football field and up above is the baseball and soccer field. Tricky thing is, it's part of the park surrounding the school, owned by the city. My dad is the head track coach there and they have been raising this money for the past 3 years at least.

I don't know too much about the plans, but the site could be challenging. The track goes almost right up to a hill on all sides (it's called the bowl), so if they are putting any sort of seating, they'd have to do something with that (although there isn't much room to push it out either) Also, the article makes it sound like the 1.9M is just for phase 1, but the website only lists that amount, but talks about both phases. So, if phase 2 fell under that as well, it would also cover the new baseball/soccer field in the upper field. It might also cover lights. i know the neighborhood has always fought installing lights, so that may or may not be in the plan.

They've needed this for years. The problem is Grant's fields are jointly controlled by the parks department and the school district so nothing ever got done.

Oh, been meaning to congratulate you. Are you going to be Uncle Causin Panic?

haha, why is the picture significantly bigger in my reply than your initial post?

never mind. It was small, but it looks like you fixed it.

Who did Suh have to kick in the nuts to write a check that big?

When one says "Grant High Til We Die", doesn't that usually happen in a drive-by?

Grant had some dickweeds when I was in high school. They thought Reynolds high school was in the country and had no idea what troutdale was.

Insert hcp joke here

I was just going to say, I had to google both of those right after your post. I learn something new everyday.

Didn't Mark Radford go to Grant? He was pretty good. We had some ballers too though.

The Grant kids used to always get beat up by the Roosevelt kids.

I'd like to say I had high school pride, but (unfortunately) I quit Lakeridge following the 10th grade. :dunno:
