It's a damn shame he cant' stay healthy.

It's not his fault but damn! I don't buy this 'snakebitten' BS, he's injury prone to the max.

*Broken Wrist
*Microfracture
*Sprained Ankle
*Sprained Foot

When he's on the court I think a lot of fans will be in constant worry that he'll land wrong or some freak injury will happen ...again and again and again.

Don't step on a crack, you might break Greg's back.

Chrissakes I hope everybody stays away from the Fremont bridge tonight ...

Freaking guy couldn't even complete summer league because he needed his tonsils taken out.

Get back in shape Greg, please. Pretty please. I want the slender Greg back.

I'd like to reiterate the fact that Channing Frye was the worst Blazer tonight.

24 hours ago I was thinking how crappy it would be to see Greg leave next summer. Now I'm couldn't care less.

GO is still a part of this team. Until he goes elsewhere, I'll be a fan and continue to support him.

For his sake I hope he can get healthy. I can't imagine going through what he's been though. As a Blazer fan I totally give up hope on him. You can only take so much. This is the 3rd (or 4th?) season ending injury.

I'd like to keep him on the roster for less than the MLE, does that mean I haven't give up on him?

The worst part is that I can't even remember the timeline for his injuries and what happened when ... OK maybe that's not the worst part?

I don't even know what "giving up on him" means, as a fan, since we take no actions (unless the action you take is to stop following the team or buying tickets).

I currently don't expect him to provide any value to the Blazers, as it seems like this season is in jeopardy for him and the team probably can't commit a significant contract to a player who's played only one season's worth of games over his entire rookie contract. But I still know Oden exists and if he were to play this season and play well, that's great and perhaps Oden will be brought back. If not, that simply meets my current expectations, so no big deal.

Greg Oden is already one of the most legendary centers in the history of the NBA. They should write songs about him. Dirges, mostly.

god this is so depressing.... made even moreso by how fuckin epic durant turned out to be.

we're cursed. fuck it.

*cries*

It turned from setback to season ending, when did this happen or are you just being pessimistic?

I think you answered your own question, in a way.

"I currently don't expect him to provide any value to the Blazers"

I think when a fan says, "I have given up on him," they mean that they have no expectations for him anymore. At one time we expected Greg to be a once-in-a-generation center. Now we would just be happy to see him back on a basketball court.

4th

Let me try:

July 2007: tonsil issue; excuse for playing badly in summer league and reason he won't practice with Team USA

September 2007: gets up off his couch and feels pain in his knee, needs MF surgery

October 2008: injures ankle in the first half of his first NBA game, misses the next 5 games

Februaryish 2009: bone chip in his knee, misses around 10 games

December 2009: breaks patella in a non contact injury

November 2010: for some reason, he now needs MF surgery

December 8th 2011: Oden is cleared to practice.

December 9th 2011: Psyche! He's out for the season. Fragile ligament issue?

Just wait 'til Oden comes back!

I guess we still don't know what "setback" means in Greg's latest stint on the injury report, but man ... how many hits can this guy take?

by the time he gets on the floor he is going to be as old as he looks

Anybody actually seen this guys birth certificate? I've long suspected he's Bill Russell's Cousin...

Okay, fair enough. I still like that he's on the roster and represents a hope, he's simply not an expectation. If that's what people mean by giving up on him, that's understandable.
