What is the overall consensus on Gregorious? I don't get to watch the games, but I hear the outcry here & on Facebook... Question is more is this adjustment too me team/league, pressure of replacing Jeter, he is having a typical Tex April, or he flat out sucks?

...not sure what the kid's problem is...he showed flashes of defensive brilliance during ST but now he seems like he's pressing or trying too hard to please...but he needs to break out of this funk.

When it comes to his hitting I also think the kid is pressing, but to be honest I'm more surprised that his defense is not living up to everything we've been hearing about.

...^^^

I think he could easily come around, both with his glove and bat.........(I hope)......

25 yrs old, never had more than 357 at bats, this year, in 29 at bats, 5 Hits, 6 K's, a .172 B'Avg, .968 Fielding Pctg. and getting paid $553,900.-

He looks decent tho' to me, but that's not saying much, since I watch TV by Braille.....:bgrin:

Hey'a Rick
, SF lost 6 in a row, ??? WTH, is going on in Frisco, do they miss their panda?

No one's missing Hanley Ramirez, Gonzo is making sure of that, 19 hits, a + .500 Batting Avg. ON the way to lead the NL in RBI's or Will Miggy the Masher take the tiara home?

At present my least favorite Yankee Player since I became a fan is Bobby Meecham, Gregorius is right on track to possibly pass him in my book. Tha guy has shown very little ability in my view, the when I dee the box scores of games Greene has pitched I really get pissed. Dombroski in Detroit, and Stewart n Arizona whipped Cashmans ass on that deal.

I've been surprisingly diassapointed (D), but he isn't a slug out there and does have excellent SS tools. Has made a couple of so-called rookie mistakes and I hope it doesn't become a confidence issue.

Sounds kinda weird, but I think as the season moves on, his hitting will improve but he WAS brought here for defense FIRST. We'll see how it plays out.

4 years and 200 games under his belt in MLB, would you like to define the criteria for a "Rookie"???

"rookie mistakes" - picked off bases, holding a relay throw lackadaisicaly assuming he had no play at home plate....

And to be fair, this will be, unless he completely implodes, his first FULL season as a starting SS.

"Rookie mistakes" - wasn't meant to mean actual ML service time.
Haven't we ever heard announcers, ect...say, "that was a rookie mistake"?....."He should've known better"?

I'm sure, I think, lol, we can agree he does look as if he's still kinda learning the ropes on the big stage.

I'm not hear to make excuses for him- he hasn't played well overral.
I thought, and still do believe he'll eventually improve and do a solid job as the SS and his hitting should/hopefully also improve with more playing time.

Let's not make this the usual pile on blg episode.

All shit aside, as you might have noticed I'm a fan of calling posters by there given name, what would yours be. blg just doesn't cut it.

Indeed put up or shut up.......

blg (I've said before), with no offense or perhaps so = Bitchy Little Girl..........

He showed enough with the glove and arm this spring to know that he's much better than he's shown thus far defensively. He's got to be pressing for some reason - even though the team has voiced the fact that he's their SS and they'll be patient, plus he doesn't have anybody breathing over his shoulder. I'm hopeful his bat will be serviceable but it sure hasn't looked like it yet.

If this continues though don't be surprised to see Ryan get some serious playing time once he returns. And he's worse with the bat then Didi.

That's very nice of you, thanks.

Too bad you needed an explanation of what the term "rookie mistakes" mean.
I won't call you any nasty words, I'll just say you are - imo - on the lower end of knowledgeable sophisticated Yankee fans on this board.

Cheer up, doesn't make you a bad person.

Well, I'm glad you've mentioned in the past that "actions speak louder than words".

You may remember, when you bragged about sitting in a courtroom for a week or so listening to cases and telling us how Judges aren't in the mood to hear any "excuses" or bullsh!t from defendants.....and then I gave you a recent example of a Judge accepting a new pair of sneakers as bail from someone.......and presto! You then became the invisible man. Lmao

You do have a habit of putting your foot in your mouth...maybe it's because you're too busy cluttering up things with a lot of irrelevant crap.

No offense intended, just friendly constructive criticism.

Proceed...be my guest.

...was it really necessary to reply a second time to the very same thing you responded to over a day ago?

http://www.pinstripealley.com/yanke...375/yankees-trade-shane-greene-didi-gregorius

"One has to wonder if New York GM Brian Cashman would like a mulligan on the offseason trade he made shipping out Greene. It certainly doesn’t help the early perception of the deal that Didi Gregorius, the player received in return, is hitting .172 with an anemic .219 OPB. He has also looked lost in field and on the bases at times. Obviously, the sample size is extremely small, but thus far Cashman does not look very smart.

Many Yankees fans were surprised that Greene was traded after showing so much promise in his rookie season. The Tigers were apparently surprised as well. CBS Sports reporter Jon Heyman stated during a radio appearance on WFAN that the people he talks to in the Tigers organization were "shocked" that they could get Greene.

It is easy to see why Detroit liked Greene. In his first start against the Tigers on August 7, 2014, Green threw eight shutout innings at Yankee Stadium. He followed that effort three weeks later with seven innings of two-run ball in Detroit. Heyman remarked later in the interview that people he works with at MLB Network "think Shane Greene is going to be a star."
"

Don't you love it when some people (Heyman) just love to rub it in?

Because they got Greene they could let Porcello go. Price, Sanchez, Greene are a pretty good three. That youg kid they had last season is back up and up return of Verlander the Detroit Staff could be looking twenty flight. Dombroski kicked Cashmans ass again.

...Heyman is one of the very few I actually put any stock into...Scott Van Pelt, Tim Kurkjian, Buster Olney , Ken Rosenthal, Tom Verducci are others.

I know its only been two starts but I'm calling it right now, Greene will finish in the top 5 in cy young voting.

Remember kids, you heard it here first.
