I am absolutely mind blown by Trent getting benched last night.
To me, this may be the worst coaching decision Stotts has ever made. The guy is a fucking dog on defense and absolutely one of the best shooters on the team. To not be playing him over ANY of the other guys off the bench is truly puzzling.
The only respectable reason I can think of benching him would be that there is a strong likelihood that the harden trade is close abd there is a 3rd team involved that asked us not to play him during the game.
Otherwise, this is Stotts worst decision as a head coach in Portland.

Well from my eye, hood is clearly bot the same player and is not ready. This is just one example of who he should be getting plying time over. It’s not even close

Hey, we sucked for three games prior when Trent was playing and we won this one. Don't knock it if it works. You don't know what he's done behind the scenes. (Besides, Trent was only good in the early days of the bubble and has sucked before and since.)

wrong. Check his games from last year. When he started getting time before the bubble..he was playing well

i understand that. Talent wise yes he should be playing over hood, which is why I think something is happening behind the scenes.

did you see him pouting on the bench while we got our first win of the season?

I agree I don’t like the pouting but if he literally just got benched...id be pretty pissed too
 
0-1 with gary getting minutes

1-0 with Ant getting minutes.

I rest my case.
 
It's one fucking half. Trent needs to get over it....and so do the fans.
Obviously, he is relying on a big season in order to get paid and if he was benched all year I would understand
him being pissed. But the team is deep. There will be a lot of players who want to play, that won't. You can't play 10-12 players.
I am sure Terry will alternate lineups in the early season like he often does. Trent will have time to earn his minutes.

Trent should have minutes NO MATTER WHAT.

First game against Utah. A top western conference team. Dame and CJ combined for 31 pts.

second game vs harden and a G league squad. Dame and CJ combine for 76 pts and we win in OT.

there are a lot of things wrong with this team and Trent is not one of them

What's the issue with Simons ? He played well against Houston.

Melo has been our worst player by far this year (Yes I know it's early)
 
It's just possible that, as coach, Stotts has information about a player's health, or a possibly a trade, that factors into his decisions. Or maybe Garry sucked at practice, or gave someone some shit, or Stotts just wants to give Simons some burn.

Yes I understand the possibilities. Like I said if there is a trade in the works, understandable.

I don’t think the blazers have ever covered up any injury news or concerns.
If he mouthed off then yeah that’s one thing so I agree there.
My point is...if he’s being benched behind everyone else for the sake of getting other people on the floor...that’s a bad decision

I'd agree if it was more than one game, but I'm not going to second guess him on this one given that I have no idea as to what factored into his decision.
