I didn't see the age of the kids, but if 18, then this a citizens right to bear arms; even instruments of war......if built by those peeps, then its their property, and the FAA has no interests with drones, not flying above an altitude the FAA still has not come forth to clarify Drone Altitude and other Operating Limits......

so there is no law to break, "or ya' can't do it, cuz there is no law to say you can", to- "ya' can do it, because there is no law stating otherwise".

Instead of the FAA trying to come down on kids, who's ID was not given, the Feds should be, as you said, "grooming him" for much bigger and better things.

This is how new Tech comes to be at times, and no one should be punished for furthering technology; or for arming a drone, regardless of age.
