ESPN did a clip on him today.
He played for Loyola Marymount University. He looked like a beast listed at 6'7 back then.
In the 1988–89 season, he became the second player in history to lead NCAA Division I in scoring and rebounding in the same season, averaging 32.7 points and 13.7 rebounds per game.
He probably would have had a good NBA career if they had cured his heart problem.

You almost gave me a heart attack.

20 years ago fella... 20.

Read my boy Wendall Maxey's piece on him in today's USAToday!

I was a sprightly 18 year-old during that run. I remember the LMU show from that season and the previous season. The most fun basketball team I've ever watched in my life. That Michigan game in the '90 NCAA tournament should be put in a museum as to what basketball can be when you let players play.

I ordered my retro Hank Gathers jersey yesterday!

woot!

So ESPN is doing a 30 for 30 on Paul Westhead and this LMU team. That's going to be fucking FANtastic.
