Damn this is a happy team now. Harris' demeanor is clearly an infectious intangible I never saw coming.
Couple key things I see happening.
Marcus and Devin - I think Devin being only 3 years older than Marcus and him having that confidence is going to go along way in making Marcus a better player. I think Marcus will be able to relate more to him than a Hall of Fame player that is 13 years older than him. He's a better mentor to Marcus because he's a more obtainable and realistic level of achievement. I saw them talking a few times on the court. Like buddies. Didn't see that with Kidd.
Carter as a leader - Heard Mark Jackson saying during the broadcast that when he was Carter's teammate Vince appeared to have a problem leading older players. I can see some people having that issue regardless of their skill level or how much of a leadership role is put upon them. Now Carter is the oldest on the team after Armstrong. Rather than having a leadership role thrust upon him because he's the most talented, he's now coming into a leadership position due to a natural progression and because of experience. It's also a less intense leadership role because he has others willing to share the load in Jefferson and Harris.
Harris must be psyched. He's gone from Jason Terry to Vince Carter (upgrade) and hasn't lost any punch at SF with Richard vs. Howard. Yeah he doesn't have Dirk anymore. However, if Nenad can round into even decent shape (not comparing him to Dirk at all) this team is deeper and more diverse than Dallas.
Never thought I would be typing a thread complimenting both Carter and Marcus, but hey it's a new team that actually may fit them and compliment them better than the disparate parts that were around them before.
