I spent New Year’s Eve glued to my computer, and the radio, monitoring the status of a bushfire a mile from my house, with the wind blowing in my direction. I had a bag packed, and was ready to leave the second the advice was to do so. Thankfully the firies were able to get it under control at about 11:30.

Just put my cat to sleep today. Not really a "happy" New Year for me. But I hope everyone else is having a good time and please stay safe.

Excuse me....I have more crying to do.

Honestly today may be the day more so than any other in a year that I don’t like not having a significant other, not sure why. Just feels like every year I’m missing out on something special.

Anyone else out there who feels me on this - I keep believing every year it will be different. Next year it can be, I’ll believe for you too!

Also my New Years Resolution is going to be to not post lame ish like that again. :biglaugh:

I think that most people here in the States don't have a real grasp of how bad things are down there. I was listening to the NSW RFS (New South Wales, Rural Fire Service) last night on the scanner. Those guys were 100 percent scared about people possibly getting killed from all of it. Sounds like a couple did. I hope you're safe now.....

Thanks for your thoughts guys. I’m safe for now , but everyone has to remain vigilant on certain days, during certain conditions. It barely rained anywhere last year, so everything is bone dry, and once fires start they spread fast, and are extremely hard to contain. Multiple people have died in multiple states, and hundreds of homes have been destroyed. This is the worst bushfire season I can remember, it’s not even half over, and it’s only going to get worse in coming years.
